Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My husband and I decided to take a walking tour of the downtown area since it was so close to where we were docked. We didn't have too much time to take an excursion but we wanted to see the historic area. Harbour Drive is a nice area with shops and restaurants. Beyond that is Heroes Square, the Clock Tower, George Town Library and Fort George. It is a short walk and well worthwhile if only for the history and a photo op. We enjoyed our self tour and then boarded the mini bus to see the eastbound area where the locals worked and lived. Very interesting. But extremely HOT and HUMID. But of course, we were in the Caribbean so what did we expect. This is a beautiful area to explore if only for a short period of time.

As you leave the port terminal you are on Harbour Dr., the main thoroughfare in downtown Georgetown. Not much of historical or architectural value; mainly souvenir, jewelry and other boutique shops along with some restaurants and bars. Typical Carribbean cruise port.

Right off the cruise tender pier is Harbor Drive. The tourist portion is about 6-8 blocks long. Shops line one side. It is colorful but on a hot day it is torture to walk along it due to heat and humidity. I was a sopping mess within 10 minutes.

We arrived at Grand Cayman in a howling wind which made the tender process a bit of an ordeal. When we finally made it to Harbour Drive we were very relieved. The whole area is lovely and pleasant to walk around. Plenty of shops, places of interest and things to do.

Well worth a visit.

As part of our excursion while in Grand Cayman, our driver and guide, Tom, took us around to point out the points of interest, to include those on Harbor Drive. After our excursion, we visited a number of the shops in and around Harbor Drive. Unlike Jamaica, these shopkeepers are laid back. Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville is located across from the port, on Harbor Street.

Beautiful drive - lack of major traffic a plus and best if if cruise ships are not present. Our favorite route from east end to 7 mile beach now.

Nothing special unless shopping is for you. Harbour Drive faces the sea and has shopping complexes along it interspersed with bars and restaurants. Amidst all this are a couple of churches and the museum. There are a few plaques to show where important places of the past once stood.
