- Kimberly BGrove City, Ohio7,475 contributionsStarfish everywhere! We were staying on the island and wanted to check this place out (by land since we had went once on an excursion many years ago). There's plenty of places to sit under shade and places to walk around. They also have restrooms there too. The name does not disappoint! You will find starfish everywhere in the water all around the area. If you want to see starfish in their natural habitat, this is the place for you.Visited August 2023Travelled with familyWritten 21 October 2023
- zannerPalatine, Illinois208 contributionsVery touristyWe stayed on the island with a car, so we drove to Starfish point. It was loaded with boats and tourists! That was the worst part. Otherwise, there were plenty of starfish in the shallow water that we found. We had packed a lunch also, so we sat on the rocks by the parking lot and ate. It's a good place to visit, but I wouldn't spend too much time there.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 12 January 2024
- natster6Peru, Illinois75 contributionsBeautiful sand, water... And Starfish! We drove to the point. There are public restrooms, nice sand, clear blue water. We saw about a dozen big starfish. We chose a low cruise ship day to do this, so there were a couple of boats there but it was not crazy. It cleared out about 3pm. We had already stopped and spent a couple hours at Rum Beach Club, but the sand and water were much nicer here. I didn't snorkel here, but there were other people doing it. We combined this outing with a tour at the Crystal Caves on our way back. That was very enjoyable too!Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 15 February 2024
- Cheri DavisColorado437 contributionsA starfish of a time!We had rented a car because at Morritts Resort, it was completely worth it! We drove to this point, there was a parking area, rinse off station, bathrooms to change. We took our snorkel gear for a short walk to the beach. You can walk quite a ways or not, large stretch of beach area and starfish all over. We brought snorkel gear to see the large upside down jellyfish that do not sting to hold. The small clear ones do sting, we did get stong by them once while snorkeling. It's not bad, but it did hurt some, beware with small children in the water here. It's worth the trip and experience!!Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 18 February 2024
- tampabaymom5Tampa, Florida153 contributionsAVOID PICKING UP THE STARFISHThis is a beautiful stop. Unfortunately many boat tours make a pit stop here too so everyone can wade around and touch the poor starfish and a selfie. SOME take it out of the water. ITS A Living THING! If you go here please respect that. Big boats on private tours come here. The parking area has a bathroom and freshwater shower.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 27 February 2024
- Lstuckmo114 contributionsSo worth it even without a tour!We didn’t have a tour booked since it was new years but decided to drive there anyway. It was easy to park, walk about 3-5 minutes, step into the water for starfish. The water was calm, and even with all the boat tours, we were still able to have a private moment with starfish. Highly recommend- so fun!Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten 9 March 2024
- Fae DLewes, Delaware88 contributionsColorful starfishThis is a fun way to spend some time. There is a parking lot at the point. As you walk along the water's edge or wade into the water, you can see the starfish laying on the bottom. When we were there, we saw several individual ones. Tours anchor just off the point.Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 21 April 2024
- Jon M38 contributionsVery fun way to spend a lazy relaxing day!Way off the beaten path with nice and calm water for snorkeling and swimming. Tons of starfish to see, the beaches were nice for relaxing. There are still some secluded spots to get away from the tour boats that drop by to visit.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 23 May 2024
- @acoupleflightsOntario, Canada327 contributionsClear, turquoise waterThe beach was beautiful. We didn’t see a lot of starfish but were able to see and hold a few. You cannot remove them from the water whatsoever. There are lots of tours that stop here so best to go early in the morning. There are public washrooms in the parking area.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 22 July 2024
- Godspeed T7 contributionsWe saw giant starfish! So fun! You do need to look for them so take your snorkel gear. There was ample parking and restrooms. Just know there is a bit of a walk to the point. You will see chickens and lizards as you walk over. We saw quite a bunch of starfish but you have to swim around to do so and go past the little jetty's as well. There will be some in the grass/seaweed. It was a lot of fun! Going in the morning or lunchtime is best, but do look out for boat traffic.Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 20 August 2024

Oddly abandoned feel to this really large property. Old giant gate locked entrance and zero facilities yet ample educational signs everywhere telling people not to touch and pick up the starfish but sure enough a paddleboarder picked one up and put it on his paddle board and almost paddled away right in front of us until the couple beside us scolded him. Small parking area basically in a shade tree area. Not 100% scenic only because of these unusual boat mooring-type barriers along the shore every 40yards or so. Very peaceful water despite the many kayaks and boats and jet skis nearby and coming and going from the stingray city. No jellies. However it got really murky on the outer end and left end of the point so we stayed to the right side near the Bay Area facing the fancy houses and it was much cleaner/clearer there although a really long walk to the car. That side also had pockets of these adorable tiny shells by the dozens. Leave some in the ocean. Awesome place for a sunset yet we were almost completely alone, except for a loud part boat and a few locals and couples hiked down from towards rum point. We saw about a dozen starfish. it was like a fun treasure hunt.

Our guide said we could touch and hold, but to never hold them above the water. We saw many who didn't heed this advice and hope all the starfish survived. An inexpensive underwater camera added to the experience, capturing some excellent memories.

Pretty simple really - long boat ride to a beautiful area with three star fish. I literally saw three star fish. Boat captain said that at the at time of day (we left at 12:30 pm) the star fish move to deeper water. Why would you sell a product when you know darn good and well the product can be delivered? I felt cheated on this excursion and won't be recommending it to the groups I plan to bring to the Cayman Islands. I think it is over hyped and under achieving and I wish it were not that way, but that's what I experienced.

We visited here twice on our trip. The first time we stopped after lunch at Kaibo. There were quite a few starfish to view. We overheard many locals mention how many more starfish were there years before. But we still were able to enjoy many in their habitat. So many boats pull up to view the starfish - not a good area to snorkel, but easy to see just by wading in the water. (Definetely recommend water shoes.)
The second time was part of a snorkel tour (we didn't know they were going to stop here). This time there were only a couple of starfish and many small jellyfish.
Worth seeing once, not sure I'd make the trip back to re-visit.

This is definitely a doable trip if you have a car, because it’s free and not really hard to get to. I’m glad we did it this way because if I would’ve paid on an excursion I think I would’ve been very disappointed. Well the area is very pretty there were only three starfish that I saw while I was there, which was fine but like I said if I would’ve paid for an excursion I would’ve been disappointed.

It's an unusual experience. There are not a LOT of starfishes like in the pictures, maybe 10 in total. A lot of people and boats come in non-stop with tourists. We were there during the Easter holidays and most of the beach was packed with campers. It was hard to find a space. It got me to wonder if they put the starfish there on purpose just for the tourists.

We drive up here although there are numerous boat trips which include a stop off here. Is incredible to see so many starfish in one area, just remember they should never be removed from the water - you will suffocate them. They’re also solidarity animals so shouldn’t be moved to close together. The actual bay is quite small and I guess would get crowded in busy times. We were probably here for about an hour which was plenty of time

At one point there were 100's at starfish point. Now we saw maybe 5...people don't understand that you can't take the starfish out of the water even for just a moment. 1000's of people touching the same starfish, taking them out of the water for a min at a time, eventually they will die. :( It's sad...if you aren't educated don't pick them up.

Starfish point is a very popular place for excursions so at any point during the day there may be 40 tourists trying to get a look at the 6 starfish that were there the day I was. We drove there to spend a relaxing day at the Beach, but between the excursions, private boats, and jet skis, it was far from relaxing. Late afternoon is your best bet for lower crowds.

What day(s) would be best to visit Starfish Point and Rum Point? We are trying to avoid the cruise ships if possible.
Written 4 July 2019
Cruise ships are generally at all the tourist spots Monday thru Thurs., 9-3 and occasionally on Fridays. I would visit Starfish Point on a weekend and have the beach to yourself:)

Hello everyone does anyone know How far Star Fish Point is from the cruise port? And would a taxi driver drive you there and wait for you? Thank you.
Written 5 May 2018
The island bus runs to that side of island also and runs often just make sure you take the route through mid island not all way round use Frank Sound rd it is shortest route. Go early to make it back to cruise ship return time. go with intention of walking into water star fish are not always right in the shallows no shoes needed soft bottom area in water

No- it is a public beach and you just walk into knee deep water; soft sandy bottom. It is just past Rum Point at the very tip.

No we didn't book a tour. My husband and I just entered Star Fish Point. Anyone can visit for free. There was a tour being conducted further into the ocean.

Hello, glad to hear Starfish point was worth the trip! I was wondering if you could tell me how you got there? I'm staying on seven mile beach and have no plans to rent a car. Do you know if cabs go there and how much that would cost?

It is just past Rum Point, before Kaibo Beach. Easy to miss, if you ask someone at Rum Point they gave us great directions. Enjoy!
