Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What a lovely beach and fantastic advert for the area EXCEPT the beach was strewn with human feces . It is disgusting that the local council does not deal with this .
There are loads of dogs on the beach despite signs indicating dogs aren’t allowed until after 30th September and £1000 fine ..either enforce this rule or remove the signs.

This beach had been recommended to my girlfriend and I and after paying the £5 charge (day rate) we made our way onto the beach and parked up. There was plenty of room to park our vehicle and no matter what type of vehicle you have you will be able to comfortably drive along the beach.
The views from the beach were simply wonderful with the hills behind us and Criccieth Castle to the right and I would recommend that people walk along the beach and sample the amazing colours that can be seen in the caves.
The beach is very flat and vast which means that people of all ages can stroll along at their leisure without fear of walking into disrupting people playing games and there was no rubbish on the beach meaning that you can take your footwear off and go barefoot without fear.
The icing on the cake was that sun shone brightly throughout the time we spent on the beach.

We had some lovely late afternoon/evening visits, the beach is very long and the hard sand means you can drive on to it.
Luckily we had good weather so took our tea down and spent a couple of hours paddling and wandering.
We even got to see the arrival of a huge barge due to unload a transformer, which also unfortunately meant they closed the beach early ..but it was something different!

Visited here with family, two adults , two children. You pay a small amount of money & then you can park on the beach all day. My children were quite excited about driving & parking on the beach. The beach is massive & flat, at one end there are some small caves & rockpools, I've no idea whats at the other end,(it was a long way off). Take a picnic etc & spend all day there its was great.

Just come back from a great day here. The beach was nice and litter free. Great idea of having two sides of the beach one for dogs and for no dogs. We have recently adopted a dog who had a fantastic time being able to go on the beach and in the sea with us. The only negative side of this is the fact that on the dog side none of us could find any poo bins. We eventually found a normal bin by the toilets which were quite a fair walk away from where we had parked. Maybe it’s worth a thought for the future to scatter some around the dog part of the beach for genuine people like ourselves who pick their dogs poo up.

An impressive beach in terms of size, but there was a lot of litter. I would have thought that the price of parking on the beach would have covered the cost of paying the staff ( who we saw driving around) to clean up. It would be great if people would clear up after themselves in the first place, but sadly they don't.

Lovely beach that we literally found 'by accident'. You can actually park on the beach - yes, park on the beach. I think there's a charge of £6 per day but we went a couple of times around 6pm time and the kiosk was locked up and the general consensus is that parking is free during the evening. Note that you need to be off the beach by 8pm as there is a barrier. Beach is regularly patrolled by council.

Immense expanse of beach, great for games, walking and running and dogs. Can generate very nice 3km, 5km, 10km routes.
Recommend running or walking along coastal path to Porthmadog dropping down the paths onto small hidden beaches. Borth-y-Gest harbour great for coffee, snacks or meals and a view.

A beautiful beach which feels like it goes on for miles and miles. A great place for dogs (and kids!) to have a run around or like mine investigate the dunes. You can drive on the beach however when we were there (end of Steptember) the first entrance via Beach road was locked off. On the plus side the other main entrance was open and no one was manning it so didn't have to pay the usual £5 fee!

This is a big beach and relatively unusual because you can drive on to the beach and set up by your car. We always visit when in the air because it's a lovely spot with the mountains behind and Harlech and Criccieth castles visible across the bay. It's also perfect on the first and last days of holiday when the car is rammed and you can sit by it, knowing that it's safe and not going to be broken into.
The beach is perfect at the moment because there is plenty of room and you can set up by your car with a distance from anyone else.
The sea is fairly placid with some small waves but not suitable for body boarding or anything like that.
Nice, accessible beach.

Hi, do the barriers open at a certain time in a morning? Also is there anywhere else other than the beach where I can park as I'd like to also visit at sunset during the summer months, all being well but understand the barriers close at 8pm. Thank you in advance 😊
Written 25 January 2021
Hi. In the Summer the barriers open at 9am and close at 8pm. There is a small road turning right at the barriers where you can park and a short walk to the beach.

Will a VW campervan be ok to drive onto the beach or will it be too heavy
Written 23 July 2020
VW camper should be fine as long as you keep to the hard sand. Hose down the underside when you get home to remove the sand and salt though.
