Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I am so glad we found this tour, it was so unique, fun and a great way to tour some of the historic sites in St. Kitts. It was definitely on the expensive side and with the costs of the ferry rides in addition, we paid a lot for this tour. HOWEVER if you book through a third party, I feel there is more information you should know that we did not!

We stayed in St. Nevis. The tour is in St. Kitts. This requires about a 30min. ferry ride over to St. Kitts. Once we learned this (AFTER BOOKING BECAUSE IT WAS NOT EXPLAINED PRIOR TO) we caught a taxi downtown to the the ferry station from our hotel. It is very packed with local commuters and was not very efficient or timely. We had a 9:30 tour time, so we called ourselves getting to the station to catch the 8:30 ferry over. The ferry actually was an 8:45am departure and sold out of seats because of the local commuters being there in line and rushing to the window when it opened 15mins before departure to buy tickets. We didn't know what was going on, but they knew to rush to the window, no line, just a crowd of people trying to get a ticket at this window.

We were panicking and called the company we set this up with and they said just get there on the next ferry. We ended up taking a barge over that was not an actual ferry. No one was really helping us and very territorial on taking this certain ferry vs. the one we took. Either way, it was an hour ride over since it went at a slower pace, but we got there around 10:00am.

The tour van picked us up an drove about 20-30mins to the train pick up location. It was a miracle they did not leave us, but there were a ton of people there just loading the train, so something tells me 9:30 was not the real departure time anyway. The van driver was very nice and knowledgeable.

The tour was great with free drinks and a knowledgeable tour guide. We toured the island and all the old sugar cane locations, the carribean and atlantic oceans and more. It was all very scenic and wonderful!

We got back from our tour at 1pm local time thinking we could get a ferry back over in a reasonable amount of time. NOPE...again not really helpful staff said the next ferry would be in 2 hours and we couldn't come inside to wait until the ticket window opened up. Another rush and mad dash, but we were prepared to be one of the first at the window to buy a ticket this time because who knows when we would've been able to catch the next one. Several local commuters again, only so many seats.

This is what made the whole experience not 5 stars. If you are coming from St. Nevis, PLEASE be aware of the transportation needed over to St. Kitts.

What a great tour. Hop onboard the old sugar cane trail and be driven through the sugar cane fields and townships of St Kitts where everyone waves to you even if they are working in the fields or at school. The train toots to let everyone know they are on their way. Its very informative as the host educates us on the slavery abolishment and the downward trade of the sugar cane business.
During the ride you are supplied with drinks to keep you cool and that includes rum punch rum and coke rum and coconut rum and pineapple pina colada,s rum with rum and more rum or any soft drinks.
There are also a couple of dancers come onto your carriage and perform some local dance routines.
It is a bit expensive but well worth the trip.

The train really rocked. Not for those who get seasick. They moved the trip the day before by a half hour. Which was fortunate that I happen to check my what’s up app that I rarely use. We ended up starting at 9:30 and the tour was finished by 11:40. A little pricey in my opinion for a two hour tour. The tour guides were great and interesting. The car servers were very attentive. During the ride two young men did a dance- despite the swaying car. They were very aggressive about getting a tip. Dujan - picked us up from the hotel. He was very kind and prompt.

I would not recommend the trip. The scenery was nice but not unlike what we already saw on other islands. The train and track are old. The cars rocked back and forth so bad it was hard to take pictures. Not worth the cost.

I was so hard started next to the railway headquarters near to the airport and took us on a very select and informative tool throughout the island which concluded at the eco part to which we transitioned to bus tour.

The train ride was a very comfortable however there were many small bumps throughout the railway which had small movements on the train, however we were advised to stay in our seats and if had to move ensure that we held on to the rails.

The scenic views from the train ride could have been seen if you're sitting on either the left or right side of the train or if you're sitting in the air conditioned compartment downstairs

Drinks were provided on the train during our tour with a variety of different drinks from alcoholic to non-alcoholic drinks.

Despite that I was one of the few English speaking tourists during this tour I was given a pair of headphones including a device that enabled me to hear the tour in English. I had some technical difficulties with hearing what was being said through the device despite the noise cancelling headphones that will provide it, ever so often the transmission of the translation would be slightly interrupted but this can be due to various factors that can affect radio signals.

We had some technical difficulties with our train as we had to stop on two occasions for them to resolve the issue at these points our tour guides work great as the insured that we had live entertainment as well as drinks while we wait.

After transitioning to the bus tour, I felt as though out tour back to Basseterre was a bit rushed however we were able to stop at some significant points to which our tour guide was able to give us some history about these areas. This may have been a result of the previously mentioned train issues.

As a conclusion, the tour was fantastic, very informative, very entertainina, and refreshments were always cold, will definitely be recommending this tour to anyone that will be visiting st kitts

The bus greeted us at the cruise terminal entry where we did a little shopping then a quick, air conditioned ride to the train. The train ride was super fun. It was old-style complete with a hundred year old authentic train engine, metal on metal squealing and covered open air seats on top. For heat sensitive passengers there is air conditioned comfort below. The rum drinks were good, plentiful and served constantly by warm and courteous locals with big smiles. The whole trip was historical, and informative about sugar cane in the islands, unique, scenic, relaxing and just plain wonderful.

This was the favorite thing that we did while on a seven day birthday cruise. What made the activity especially memorable was the friendliness of the people. At every crossing, every household and every school yard, the children and adults would come out and wave to the train. It gave a warm feeling that makes you feel welcomed and made us want to come back. We felt that the people would want us to return. This is in stark contrast to St. Lucia, where we felt like the natives wished we weren’t there.
Do this!

Dujan was an amazing tour guide and was extremely helpful and friendly. He was very accomodating to all of our requests. He even picked us up as a taxi another day and gave us fresh mangos as a thank you. Would absolutely recommend for anyone.

This was a wonderful experience and Dujan provided a great service in getting us to the train and then back with a little sightseeing during the drive. The Rum Punch was very good and the sites are beautiful. The history of the area during the train and the drive was very appreciated. Thank you Dujan and Saint Kitts Train Trek!
