This is really not much of a tourist attraction. It's an elongated semi-green space that extends from the basilica to almost the sea. Towards the sea end of it, there's not much happening. As you walk in, you'll see more of locals hanging out, sitting on the benches. Towards the basilica, it's a buzzing with life. People spill onto the... More

Long park with lots of locals hanging around, didn't feel comfortable at all, felt being watched from all directions, nothing special about this place. The only good thing to see was the The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, on the East side of the square, I will review that also. It is nothing like other old cities main square. Very... More

The heartland of the business area in T&T! The area turns into a hotspot for traders and people wanting to 'Lime' (hang out) at night. The hustle and bustle of activity is quite intensifying, and provides an amazing buzz after dark.

Out of all the Independance Squares I visited, I have to be completely honest and say that this one is pretty lame...the area is relatively unsafe and has a lot of American chain restaurants...of course, there is a statue or two, but that is about it!

Very little to Do and see. Three days is enough. Very boring place. Always warned of crime. Makes you a bit scared

Lots to see, shops to visit. If you need a bank, or food to eat this is a good place. However, gets very buy and watch as you cross the roads. Never a good time to avoid as it is always busy.

It is a very long and large "square" right in the busiest center of Port-of Spain. Lots of restaurants, shops, banks, etc you will find everything along this square that leads to the sea.

My family visited on Independence day. A beautiful sea of red, white and black, littered the streets. As the patriotism was at its highest we stroll through Independence Square, which is the same as Brian Lara Promenade. Such a beautiful place to be....

Walked over the square but there isn't much to see there. Just a square with a bunch of streets and a lot of cars :)
