I had to read a lot of blogs to figure out how to find this reef. Unfortunately I didn’t get any pictures but it is worth the trip! I saw a family of red sharks and others saw a family of sea turtles and rays!...More

We continue to snorkel at Smiths Reef due to its size and abundance of marine life . Although we did not see rays today, we did see many large schools of fish, sea turtles and some amazing coral . We plan on snorkelling here several...More

This was our favorite close to shore place to snorkel. There were plenty of fish all around and lots to see. We saw a Starfish and a shark. Other snorkelers said they saw a stingray and turtle while we were there.

The most beautiful seas I have ever seen. 3 to 4 shades of blues and green before it tuens into the deep blue sea. The beaches are sandy and/or rocky depending on your entrance to the reef. Snorkeling is an absolute dream. We saw rays,...More

This is the best off-the-beach snorkeling we saw in Providenciales. It was a bit windy the entire week we were there, so that may have affected the number of fish. This reef area has a nice array of gars, eagle rays and turtles. You need...More

Even with very good directions, this is difficult to find. We didn't see the central or east side access points, but did find the west end. Can be a bit of a walk, especially if you're carrying chairs and a cooler. Very rocky. Water was...More

We had a wonderful time snorkelling around Smith's Reef, though the currents can be challenging. We went two days in a road, parking at the end of Bridge Road. Lots of colourful fish and there are usually 3-5 rays to be mesmerized by :) There...More

Some hotels may let guests borrow snorkeling gear. We brought our own but discovered that our hotel, Royal West Indies, has gear available for free.

I think you would be very hard pressed to travel from Grand Turk to Provo, where Smith's reef is located, and still have enough time to snorkel.
