- russpeiSebring, Florida581 contributionsGreat History LessonA short walk gets one here from the cruise ship. Staff was very friendly and helpful. There are many artifacts and history here for adults and children. The museums gift shop is extensive for its small size and one can find books, real treasure for sale and items for children.Visited October 2023Travelled soloWritten 17 October 2023

- Kiana LAtlanta, Georgia551 contributionsSuper fun museum with so much to learnWe booked this museum through the Norwegian cruise line. It was a pleasant surprise! There is a lot to see in this museum. We learned so much! There are also fun activities throughout the museum. Our favorite was the hurricane simulator. I definitely recommend checking out this museum if you can! It won’t take you too long. Plus it’s right next to the Skyride to Paradise Point so you can do both! Overall, a great experience.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 22 March 2024
- TheAndrewFLiverpool, United Kingdom275 contributionsFun Museum with Interactive ExhibitsThis is a fun museum, located a short walk from St Thomas' main cruise port area, which pulls together a variety of artefacts, exhibits, interactive elements and photo ops relating to piracy and shipwrecks in this part of the world. It's not a huge place (I think we were done in about half an hour) but there are efforts to educate and entertain young and old here, and we did learn a surprising amount. Worth a visit.Visited September 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 1 October 2024

My hot lady friend and I visited the Pirates treasure Museum and did not know what to expect. To our pleasant surprise we had an extraordinary experience and learned a lot which made our trip that much more memorable. However, the stand out treasure in this museum was a gentleman by the name of Ryan. His passion for Pirate History and superb articulation captivated us. On one particular tid bit, he stated the reason for people driving on the left side of the road was due to donkeys. Donkeys. Absurd, right!? At the time we politely excepted the piece of information but when we got home, we immediately fact checked Ryan and it turned out he was spot on. Thank you Ryan for your integrity to the facts and honoring the pirate legacy.

The first time I was in St Thomas (June 2019), I spent HOURS at this museum. I’m not kidding... it was just me, and I could take as much time as I wanted. I may have spent almost four hours there and enjoyed every single second. This week I was lucky enough to return with a friend and visiting the pirate treasure museum with something we absolutely had to do. She had never been before and I knew she would love it as much as I had. I was pleasantly surprised to discover they have only added to it, and while I didn’t think it was possible, made the experience even better! I wish I had gotten the names of everyone working that day because every single person was friendly, helpful, and truly awesome. Especially Matt and Sean in the gift shop... cracked us up, were incredibly friendly, and were the icing on the cake for a five star experience. If anyone is having any doubts about checking out this museum, just do it. There’s fascinating information, fun activities, And there is way more crammed into that tiny space than you would expect. Captain Jack sparrow on the second story is worth the visit alone!

Interesting pirate museum, fun, interactive and educational. The museum docents are informative, many artifacts to view, and the gift shop has some very interesting items for sale with very informed shop clerks. Jack Sparrow was on the 2nd floor providing insight to the daily life of the pirate! Your ticket is valid for all day.

We had so much fun at this museum. They have really fun interactive exhibits that both adults and kids can enjoy. Our 14 year old really enjoyed the knot tying and our 6 year old enjoyed talking to the pirate about his weapons. it was also pretty educational which I was not expecting. It was neat to learn about the different shipwrecks around St Thomas.

The museum is an awesome place to learn about the Virgin Islands and its Pirate History! There are so many unique artifacts from shipwrecks to see and learn about! Marty and Sean were so knowledgeable and fun to talk too. If you ever want to own a unique piece of history such as shipwreck coins, this is the place to visit. A must stop if you have never been before!

Best museum of the US VI!!! We went on the last day we were on St. Thomas as a bit of fun filler time- we wished we gave it at least two more hours than we did because we enjoyed the various exhibits and artifacts. The museum is very professionally done, at least two floors in size and covers most (if not all) of the known history of the area. Well worth the cost of admission, especially compared to local fare for everything else.
We had a chance to chat with the owners, the original scuba divers/treasure hunters of most of the artifacts on display. They have a passion for their work and have a deep fund of knowledge local history, shipwrecks and science of restoration/recovery! Very friendly staff, their souvenir shop is great for families, and is close by the other big tourist locations.

If you like pirates this museum is full of interesting facts, traditions, Pirate practices, ships, legends, etc. They have a hurricane simulator which is cool. They showed a great informative movie before your self guided tour. The museum is 2 stories and can be completed in 1 hour. The gift shop had awesome authentic treasures to purchase.

To kill some time before going to the airport we stopped into this well done museum. They offer a military/first responder discount...thank you so much!! This museum is really well put together and lots of information about so many things...Pirates, treasure, sunken ships, weather events, and the most thorough history of the USVI that I had seen on our trip. Some interactive activities and they are adding more!! Would definitely recommend this museum if you want some history about the Caribbean and events that have taken place here! We spent about 1hr and 15 minutes here and would return on our next visit to STT!

My family of five stopped here for part of the day. It was a remarkably clean museum with a very easy layout. My kids enjoyed themselves, and I learned some things. My only hangup preventing me from giving it a 5 is that the price was a bit steep for the content and time commitment. Still, it was fun.

Any speculation or info that it might open by mid-May 2021?

How long does it take to go through the museum, how busy does it get, and can you take pictures? Thanks!

How far is the pirate treasure museum from the cruise ship pier?
Written 2 July 2019
It’s easily within walking distance. Let me see if I can remember. It would be less than 6 blocks. It is the same location where you see the skylight. (Cable cars going to the top of the mountain.)

Are infants (freshly 1 year old) free? Or would we have to pay $12 admission for him too? Thanks

What are the hours of the museum? If our ship is docked for 8 hours do we have enough time to visit both the museum and a beach for snorkeling?

Hello! Yes, you have plenty of time. The museum is only about a ten minute walk from the cruise ship, max. We are open every cruise ship day from 9-5!

If memory serves me right it was $16 a person and well worth it. We enjoyed this a lot. Got to play with a real underwater machine for getting treasures off the ocean floor and the guide was great. She has lived on the island all her life. Highly recommend stopping here. We will be back on the island in January and are stopping so the rest of our family can tour the museum.
