Lots of steam

Excellent views of steam engine billowing with steam, most atmospheric. Scenery a little obscured by rain and cloud but still were aware of the lakes and mountains around us.

We went on a wet February day. So the scenery was not as good as hoped ue to the low cloud. Only 3 groups of people on the train so each group had a carriage each, dont get that on a normal train. Everyone was friendly and a dog friendly attraction. I can see why on the way back you... More

Great little railway. Just love steam. Went in February so quiet - only couple in our carriage. It was wet and windy but still took some great photos and got the full on steam experience. Would love to go again and walk around at top and get later train back..

Took a lovely trip on the steam train. Advise to go on a clear day, the picture shows our view for most of the day. Lovely atmosphere and the train ride was really great. Nice to be able to stop on the way back for a cuppa.

We visited Brecon Mountain Railway in the afternoon and caught the last train out at 2.30pm on a very snowy day. All of the staff were extremely friendly and made you feel very welcome. Great trip (just over an hour) with amazing views. Short stop halfway down to visit the Steam Engine museum and grab a cup of tea which... More

After recommendations and search on their website page and leaflet we booked the Santa train, arrived after 2.5 hour drive to a rude man and manager who would not let the dog on the train even though it does not say that they cannot,it actually says that dogs are welcome on their leaflet, ahhhh but that means only in fair... The train ride of two miles or so is OK but then there is an long wait to see Father Christmas who was very good with the children; both adults and children received gifts before the return journey. The train was hardly decorated at all and additional staff (elves and fairies) would have added to the atmosphere. A more imaginative... More
