Overview

More
Brecon Mountain Railway was built on part of the abandoned Brecon & Merthyr Railway which was originally built in 1859. Travel behind a vintage Steam Locomotive in our all-weather observation coaches and admire the spectacular views on your 10 mile round journey. The railway climbs to Torpantau, high in the Brecon Beacons before returning Pontsticill Station. Visit our Steam Museum, Children's Play area and Lakeside Café. At Pant Station we have Tearooms, Gift Shop and a Workshop. Facilities for disabled passengers including ramps, toilets and an adapted carriage to accommodate wheelchairs.

Was just going for a drive with the kids and found ourselves at Brecon mountain railway. The kids and I loved the journey in cold but sunny weather. Carriages nice and cosy and a welcome cups on the way back. Would love to visit again.

There are no toilets at our Torpantau Station or on the train. We have full facilities at both our main station at Pant and Pontsticill Station which is where you stop on the return journey.
