The good news: this world-class stretch of white sand and turquoise water is St. John's most photographed beach, which features a marked underwater trail for beginning snorkelers. The bad news: because of its popularity, it can get very crowded with cruise ship passengers and members of sightseeing tours.

Best beach on St John

It can get a bit crowded for my taste. But it has a nice sandy beach, great snorkeling, a food and drink concession and restrooms.

The beautiful thing about Trunk Bay is that it is spectacular for snorkeling, but there is plenty to do if snorkeling is not your thing. The beach is pristine, the concessions are comprehensive (go for the sweet potato fries) and the bar is fully stocked. The showers and toilets are clean and conveniently located. This is a wonderful place to... More

We stayed in St Thomas and took the car ferry over to St. John, we had to wait two and a half hours for the car ferry and by the time we got to St John we only had two hours at Trunk Bay before we had to be back for the last car ferry(apparently they were down from 3... More

Took the ferry over from St. Thomas. Jumped on a $25pp safari taxi that took us around the island, and dropped us at Trunk Bay. $6 fee to enter the park, and worth it for the gorgeous, clean beach, showers, bar, and snack bar. You can rent chairs and snorkel equipment (incl. life jackets), and the underwater snorkel trail was... More

We have been to St. John's USVI numerous times and we will never cease to be impressed with the beauty "under the sea" that is there for everyone at Trunk Bay. Young and old will enjoy snorkeling around at this beautiful beach. The beach it's self is also very nice when it is not too crowded.

This is the first time I've ever visited this beach and it will certainly not be the last, I can see why it's been in the top 10 beaches in the world for so many decades. The beach is so soft and white and the sea is so clear you can see the bottom. The snorkelling is also a huge... More

Water was rough and strong undertow. Coral reef hard to see and the waves slammed me into it. I actually broke part of my foot, which I didnt realize at the time . It is beautiful area , but beware.

Best looking beach in St. John. That makes it crowded at times. Not as rough as Cinnamon Bay. Could spend 3-4 hours here.

Beautiful beach but the waves were so rough I couldn't let my 16 month old near the water. Also the rough waters made the visibility for snorkeling not very good. It was nice that they had a snack bar, showers, and beach rentals but we had our own food and chairs. It is a big wide beach compared to the... More
