Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We are a family of history buffs so a stop at Christ Church was a given. Beautiful church with an awe inspiring collection of stained glass. You can really chart the history of Nassau seeing the memorials inside the cathedral.

This Anglican church have been in Nassau over over 100 years, it is a land mark. The queen has visited and also Prince Harry. The services are traditional. For a tourist I suggest 7:30 am or 9:00 am because you would have the rest of the Day free.

We visited Christ Church Cathedral on 2/16/15. It is 5 min walking distance from the cruise ship. Cathedral is beautiful with amazing woodwork, stained glass, chandeliers and more. It was open and free, but we left an offering in the drop box. We also walked to Queens's Staircase and Fort Fincastle all 15 min walking distance from the cruise ship. I felt safe being only on the main streets with police officers everywhere.

The stain glass windows are beautiful, wood work in ceiling amazing. Worth your time, even if you are not a religious person.

The Cathedral is downtown. Went to early Sunday service that had good attendance. Beautiful stained glass windows.

This is a very old building. It is well maintained. It's a very peaceful place in the middle of downtown, we were the only ones there beside the staff. I wish more people would see it. It has amazing details. I signed my name in the guestbook, it was nice to see the history of the island in this place.

Open to the public at least into the foyer. Beautiful Church in such a depressed area. Do they have a St. Vincent Depaul Society???

We happened to be in Nassau enjoying our 30th anniversary during Ash Wednesday so decided to go to a service. Christ Church Cathedral was the closest house of worship outside the hotel door, so that is where we went. We are not of the Anglican persuasion but felt comfortable and welcomed. The service was astoundingly beautiful and profound. The formality and dress of the congregation reminds you of how church was viewed decades ago in the USA, which was refreshing as we sat there in our plain vacationers outfits. What struck me most was the music! I learned recently that the hymns we were singing were medieval plainsong, which is the most uplifting singing of praise I have been exposed to and nothing is better suited to the pipe organ. It was so memorable that the "hymn lady" at our little church in ohio is writing an article on plainchant for the newsletter. Thank you Christ Church for a wonderful memory.

This wonderful old colonial-era church has a beautiful interior and offers fascinating glimpses into the life and times of colonial Bahamas. The interior is immaculate, with a post and beam roof overhead and white-washed walls. Around the interior are many memorial plaques set into the walls and each tells a story of death and loss. Seaman who went to sea and never returned; young brides taken early by disease or the hazards of childbirth. There are many eloquent expressions of regret and mourning. A bit morbid to be sure but in these phrases carved in stone the reader can share the sorrows of those who lived in a time when life was so much more uncertain and precarious.

Great off the track place to visit. It was just my wife and myself, pretty nice since we were doing a cruise to get away from everyone . We walked from the ship really close . Pretty cool inside oldest Church in the Bahamas . So old a lot of the writing is in old English where they use the "f" as an "s' . Ton of history. If you really want to get away from the Touristy stuff this is a great place to visit. There is no charge but there is a donation box which we put a couple dollars in .

Which tour did you take that started at the Cathedral? Did it include the Queen's Staircase? Those are the two sites we really want to see. Thank you!

Hi, We were in a hotel rather than off a cruise ship so we wandered around under our own steam. In terms of walking distance I would say the two places are probably just a bit more than a mile apart and a little bit of a climb as, apart from the obvious Queens Staircase itself, there is a hilly street to walk up to get there from pretty much anywhere in downtown Nassau.

Good evening, is there a cost to visit the church?
Also, how far is it from the port where the Celebrity Cruise line comes in. this is the very first time we have ever come to Nassau, or been on a cruise. Can we walk.
Third how far from your church to get to the Ardastra Conservatory. could we walk from the church?
thank you so much for helping us out. Barb & Bob Buikema

No cost to visit. And it’s in the heart of downtown Nassau so yes, you should be able to walk. I don’t know how far it is to the conservatory.
Enjoy!
