Walked to the art gallery after dropping my husband off at Cliffie's Barbershop. The art I saw in there was gorgeous. I have cards for some of the artists at home. The paintings, the sculptures, the holey stone works --- I was very impressed. The whole From Columbus to Junkanoo series was powerful. I wanted the face masks from the... More

The art gallery is on two floors. The ground floor was used to exhibit local artists work which we found very interesting with lively vivid colours. At the time of our visit the first floor was being used to exhibit the EXUMA islands sustainable development project which again was very interesting and showed what is going on at a different... One of the few places where you can find authentic Bahamian made items. Jewelry, dishware, housewares, artwork and more. If you love straw work, you've also got to visit The Plait Lady in Marina Village. The gallery is small and mostly paintings but some neat sculptures too.Admission is $5, Parking and entrance is off the side (West) street towards the... More

I went to a dinner that was held here for an event I attended in Nassau. The veranda that wraps around the building on the upper level was the venue for the dinner. It was a beautiful location.

I would encourage all tourists and Bahamian residents alike to visit the NAGB! The museum has found a great home in this property and the curators do a great job in ensuring that a great variety of Bahamian art is featured.

A small museum and a respite from the touts and tacky tshirt shops. The gallery is in a converted house a short cab ride or about fifteen minutes' walk from the cruise ship docks. It can be toured in 60 to 90 minutes, and the exhibits are well worth the time.

Junkanoo, an island tradition wit parades on Boxing Day (Dec. 26th) and New Year's Influenced several art works in this museum. We were glad we went on the Historic Tour the day before, and knew about Junkanoo. Bahamian art is filled with color and symbolism, or depicts life on the island with pastel houses and colorful flowers. Statues outside the... More
