Went on the tour with the family and was charged the full amount ($15) even though I was not sampling in the tasting room. The “tour” portion lasted all of 5 minutes because it was SO hot in the building that even the guide did not want to be there. Do yourself a favor and just buy the beer in the store and skip the “tour”.

Maybe we were the one-off but we really didn't enjoy this tour. We are both Brewery aficionados for sure and love beer. I think our problem was that we just walked in and took a tour so we weren't part of a group. The person that gave the tour seemed un-interested. The beer was excellent though and we loved the tastings however again the person giving the tour seemed to rush us through and really didn't care. Maybe if we were part of a group there would have been more interest.

We were in Freeport as a part of a cruise with Carnival. We always do research on the various ports before we go because we prefer exploring an area on our own, rather than purchasing an excursion. However, Freeport did not seem to have much to do and we felt our best option would be to either stay on the ship or to purchase an excursion. We settled on the downtown Freeport and brewery tour, both because of the affordable price and the included beer tasting. Who doesn't love a nice beer tasting?
First of all, our tour guide Brice was a delight. Possibly the best tour guide I've ever had - VERY funny and informative. The downtown tour was interesting and we enjoyed the Perfume Factory as well. We didn't experience a hard sell at the Perfume Factory (a little surprising), which we appreciated. The Port Lucaya Marketplace was another story though - just your typical jewelry and cheap souvenir stores. The Count Basie Square was interesting, although there was no music while we were there. The public restrooms there were a mess - a toilet had overflowed and both the men's room and the women's room had at least an inch or two of dirty toilet water all over the floors. We held off on using them, as we could smell them yards away.
The brewery was truly the best part of the tour. The tour was interesting, although it was a Sunday and no one was there. But of course, everyone was just waiting to get to the tasting and the promised as-much-as-you-can-drink extravaganza afterwards. We enjoyed each of the beers (although High Rock was our favorite), and definitely took them up on their offer of additional servings. We were all pretty well gone by the time we got back on the bus, and Brice led us in a sing-a-long back to the ship.
They also have two of the sweetest dogs at the brewery - Nassau was especially friendly and greeted everyone as they got back on the bus. I practically had to drag my husband back on the bus - he didn't want to leave the sweet pup!

You know what gives this place a 5 rating. It's not elaborate or breathtaking. It is a very small plant and on the edge of being a boring tour. However, the staff was super friendly and treats you well. The beers that we tasted were very good. I'm now bummed that I can't get it in the states. :-( We decided to avoid the ship's excursion tour that included the brewery. Instead, we opted for a quick taxi ride for $4/person. It ended up just the 8 of us doing what seemed to be a private tour and tasting. I believe it was around $10 USD each. We could have stayed there all day but they had to kick us out to prepare for a large tour coming in. I know for a fact that the next time we are in Freeport we will be going back to the Bahamian Brewery.

The Freeport stop on the cruise ship was a mostly a bore to us. However, the Bahamian Brewery is a must do if you are on this tropical island. We made our way to the taxi pavilion, paid $12 for three of us to take a cab, the tour at the brewery was $8-10? After perusing a well stocked and air conditioned liquor store, we made our way into the brewery. They were running the cannery during our visit which we thought was great, because taking a tour of a brewery that isn't packaging can be very limiting. Our tour guide (not Ash) did a great job showing us through the various labs, vats, kitchens, and aging stations. We then made our way to a tasting room which was quite large, we stayed there until the bus showed up. The beer tenders told us names of the beer and gave us samples of approx. 7 brews (get extra samples of the Virgil's Brew). We learned some island history, local definitions (jungleist), some secret names that surround these delicious beverages, and had a blast! There was some group singing and game playing, if you catch it at the right time. My son was in the group and he is pursuing his CICERONE certification and he really enjoyed this time. I am glad we booked this on our own and I really needed the taxi to get back to the ship.
When in Freeport...don't be scared to push out boy, and hit the brewery.

We booked this trip through out cruise operator & it included a stop off at a Perfume Factory & a small shopping Mall first. The brewery was the highlight of the tour. It is small but the staff are very friendly & there are plenty beers to sample. A fun way to spend the morning.

We booked a tour for the brewery from the cruise ship....it was lots of fun and the beer was great! We had a tour for the brewery first then it was off to some beer tasting! Each sample was great including the their version of a stout beer! After the sampling it was pretty much " drink as much as you want while your in the sampling room"! We went with our 3 yr old and they had no problem with him there; the workers are very friendly and the tour guide was very knowledgable of the brewery. Highly recommend it when visiting!

We got there too early but Chrissy graciously offered to take us for a tour anyway. She was awesome! Def request her!
She explained the process and showed each area. Chrissy was knowledgeable and let us go at our own pace. The final tour stop was the bar. Chrissy poured samples of each beer and explained its characteristics. At the end, she asked which ones we wanted full glasses of and kept it flowing. She was laid back but still maintained control. We were not rushed out of the facility.
The tours start at 10am and are $7 pp.
We def stuck to Bahamian Brewery brands fort he rest of our visit because of the fun we had.

We took a cruise and we have done a lot in Freeport and were looking for something new to do there, well we found it, sands brewery tour.
We got off the ship and got a great cab driver Moses taxi, ask for Moses he was really great, cost about $6 per person to get to the brewery, we got to the brewery and the tour was $7 pp, we had a great tour guide Krystal, she walked us through the plant and then to the tasting room which was my favorite part, she introduced us to some great beer. Crissy the tour manager then came in and we talked to her also, Crissy called Moses to pick us up and take us back to the ship. Best day ever!!!

While visiting Freeport, we decided that we could not pass up a Tour of the Bahamian Brewery (home of Sands Beer). We had met Winston and Crystal at the Regatta and enjoyed watching the Skulling, so we decided that a visit to the Brewery was a must.. When we entered the Brewery, we were very pleasantly surprised to see Crystal again. We also had the pleasure of meeting Crissy, our tour guide. She was very knowledgeable and did a wonderful job. Then, we went to the tasting room. We sampled all of the products, including a brew that is being created exclusively for Atlantis. When we concluded our tasting, we were offered a full glass of our favorite!! What fun, don't miss it.

Is there food/snacks in the tasting room available for purchase?

2 questions for you....
1/. Was this a tour you bought while onboard a cruise line, or did you just turn up at the door of the brewery..??
2/. What's the name of your taxi driver and how can I contact him.
3/. Is the brewery open on weekends..??
I'll be in Freeport this weekend (Sat 1st of June)

Just go directly to the brewery by cab. Take the tour which is not much but the beer is free . You can sample a few of them. Just leave a tip . You can buy liquor on sale. It’s awesome.
Cheers!

I imagine it's called the Brewery tour and that's what you want. I wouldn't waste my time at the perfume factory unless you REALLY want to mix your own very expensive fragrances. Also, unless shopping is your thing, I'd skip the trip to Port Lucaya. Since the casino closed down, it's dead and what stores there are are very expensive. You'll have a blast at the brewery if you like beer. I'd go to Garden of the Groves, too, or pay for a day pass at one of the resorts like Island Seas. There you can take out watercraft and get out on the ocean.

I am going to be going on a cruise in a few months. Is there an age limit for who can go on the tour. The youngest in our group is going to be 16. I know that they won't be able to drink but are they allowed to go on the tour?

Anyone know what bus to get on, or the address for the tour? We want to take local bus rather than taxi.
Written 25 June 2017
We took our tour from our timeshare but it appeared that other folks just walked in the door - did not have to have reservations. They had employees ready to take folks as they came in on a tour through the plant and the tasting room. Worth the time - not sure the bus schedule but since there isn't much going on in Freeport, I am sure all public transportation drivers are knowledgeable on where the brewery is.

We are heading there on a cruise in July. I hate booking excursions through the cruise line as they are ALWAYS overpriced. Is this something we need to book in advance or can we take a cab over, show up, and pay when we get there? Thanks in advance!
Written 14 June 2017
You can just show up. Carnival has a tour that goes to Port Lucaya and ends up at this brewery, but you can do it on your own. We recommend Kenny as a cab driver. Tell her Pat & Harry recommended her!

We're heading to High Rock for the first time next week. I plan on hitting the brewery, but do they sell 6pk or 12pk for us to take back to our rental? Any IPAs there (my favorite beer type).
Thanks!
Written 2 March 2017
You can buy however much you want at the brewery to take with you. I don't think they currently make an IPA. The website doesn't list one....but they make a beer exclusively for the Atlantis resort that you can taste after the tour. Can't remember if it was an IPA.

How much is the tour if you drive there? What hours are the tours?
Written 15 January 2017
Less than $10.00 a person. Open at 9am - ? Nice bar at the end of tour where you get to taste all of the brews, very generous! Good liquor store there too. They have a website.
