The highlight of this park is the large white cross that marks the place where Columbus first set foot on the island.

Walk along this beach and go where few feet ever touch the sand, watch the waves, marvel in the clarity of the water and sky. Makes you want to quit the corporate rat race and enjoy a simpler life

Not the nicest beach on the island, not the best snorkeling, not much to see overall. There are some much nicer spots to check out.

but first, the beach - it's so pretty, pristine and peaceful, the water clear, shallow and calm. Then, more seriously, to think that this is where it all started. As exciting as it is, to stand in the very place Christopher Columbus did (or thereabouts),...More

Columbus Landing in San Salvador marks the location of the initial landing of Christopher Columbus. This beach has a few monuments to commemorate historic events. Like the rest of San Salvador, it is quiet. Locals will stop to swim from time to time but mostly...More

This is where it is said Columbus made landfall, just as he did on so many islands in the Bahamas. It's also right next to where the 1968 Mexico Olympics were held. Not much to see on this day in March 2017. San Sal is...More

There is much hurricane damage. But the beach is untouched and looks pretty much as it would have in 1492. The monuments include one from the Olympics when in Mexico and the torch was carried from here. Good snorkeling not far off beach too.

Good photo ops but the area could stand some cleaning up after damage from hurricanes. There is not much to see beyond this on the road around the east side of the island.
