Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

There is an ample sized car park in the village which is directly situated on the harbour.
The village is very pretty and seemed to attract many dog walkers walking the harbour path.
The village has a few lovely little shops and I noticed a pub which is next to the car park as well as a little cafe which was serving takeaway only.....all of the shops were closed due to covid restrictions.
Parking was reasonable at £1 an hour with blue badge holders getting an extra hour.
A very sweet little village which combined with the rock pools and harbour ( and when everything opens again) is worthy of a day trip.

If your passing Solva and especially if the tide is in you won't be disappointed with a stop break here. A short walk up from the car park in the direction of river mouth is a nice cafe where you can grab a cup of tea and enjoy the scenery etc. The coastline path is a bit uphill to start but so much worth it.

Lovely harbour, shallow enough for kids to play/swim. We visited in the evening. Lots of people were setting off on their paddle boards from here. Two nice pubs in the harbour to get a drink food. Parking is payable, free after 7pm. Would recommend a visit if in the area.

Tiny village with no concept of customer service. zero infrastructure and horribly crowded. Few facilities for anyone and huge crowds walking the only street.
Whilst attempting to park in the carpark a small Peugeot CV59 DVR decided to cut in and take a space despite the queue. When confronted the driver became aggressive and waved a yellow card - shrieking 'I live here I live here' .
Apparently Solva residents don't want tourists despite every business on the only street being reliant on the tourist economy.
Real shame as the views and geography could be a winner

This is a delightful coastal village with lots of interesting shops and restaurants and of course the harbour right on the coastal path. I walked from here to Newgale and back - a good few hours walking with lots of ups and downs. The scenery was amazing as you'd expect. There are busses between the two different points if you don't walk to walk back but I'm not sure of the number of the timetable.

We reached Solva after walking along the coastal path from Porth Clais. We loved fishing for crabs off the harbour wall. The cafe sell nets and bacon to tempt them with. The village is pretty and there are good places to eat. My husband also sailed into Solva from Porth Clais and would recommend this.

Solva was quiet when we arrived at 10am, with most shops not opening until 11am. Got very busy by the time we left just before lunch , with the carpark full. Carpark cheap. Enjoyed a walk along the coast path and around the harbour. Window on Wales shop had a good selection of souvenirs and a few art galleries and a couple of pubs/cafes. Busy road going through the village. Lovely place to walk around when quiet.

Solva is a quintessential Welsh coastal village. We always stop in Solva, on our way to Whitesands Beach, to walk along the harbour path, enjoy a box of Welsh cakes from MamGu and soak up the sights & sounds.
The harbour car park can get very busy in Summer, its pot luck really if there are spaces to be had.

Solva is absolutely beautiful. My partner who isn’t a beach person even fell in love. We walked up the coast path on to the pebble beach and came back the next day when the tide was out and had a day on the beach which was fantastic. Clear water, pools for the toddlers to play in. The tide goes right out so it’s shallow for quite a while. It’s just absolutely beautiful, there’s old kilns to look at too. We had so much fun and I can’t wait to go back. The Habour Inn is worth a visit too.

I am trying to find the names and, if possible, a photograph or painting of the type of sailing ship that took emigrants from Solva to America. Any details would be appriciated.
Written 17 October 2019
Can't be certain, but the type of sailing ship would most likely be a Brigantine, a Clipper or a Cutter. The names of four are possible, but no information about their use in Solva - they were Santa Maria, Nina, Pinta and The Mayflower. Hope this might help.

Does a bus service stop at Solva, if so how would I get there from Tenby
Written 19 April 2016
Hi, you would need to catch a bus from Tenby to Haverfordwest then a bus to St. davids. I have done it but it's a long journey. Don't forget you will need time to get back too, check out the local bus company for timings.
