About
We are trying to create a mobile phone free space here including photographs of the art works and the cafe area. This is in line with our concerns that the use of these and their direct link to social media is encouraging people to concentrate on posting images rather than participating directly in the experience of being here and in Pembrokeshire. We would appreciate your help with this. If you speak to Raul he is usually amenable to having a picture or two taken but ask first. In January, February and March 2020 we will be open some weekends on a pop-up basis. We live on the premises and will be working on new websites there and are re-decorating so ring us if you want to speak to us and we will let you in!! Websites when updated during this time will show tapas night dates for the Summer and workshops dates. Sorry to let you down over the tapas nights last year when I broke my foot (Heather) but hopefully that wont happen again in 2020!!

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Popped in with our 2 families , holidaying together (as our teenage kids are particularly interested in art and music. We were looking at the at the pieces in the gallery, when a man came out and very aggressively said to my 21 year old son ‘ I don’t know what you’re saying, but you’re pissing me off…. Get out now!!’ To which we promptly left , as he appeared quite agitated. So we won’t be going there again!

Loved this place very beautiful and colourful art work and cute colourful cafe with lovely friendly owners great coffee and I’m fussy with my coffee. Cakes looked absolutely delicious too but we didn’t try as we’d already just eaten ice cream.

Popped in for an excellent cup of coffee and delicious cake made on the premises. Sat outside in a shady spot and watched the world go by..Raul and Heather are a couple of engaging people. Both are artists and Raul is also a musician. The cafe is a sort of debating venue where ideas about art, music and the tribulations of modern life are freely aired.

This is a gem hidden in a former chapel in Solva. Up the steps and into the gallery and there’s Raul playing his five layers of keyboards and performing Cuban-jazz-fusion sets whilst you view his art. There’s secondhand and new books plus jewellery and prints from other artists too. Couldn’t help but smile when I visited today. So much so, I had to write a review. Raul’s wife runs the gallery whilst Raul performs. Wish I had more time to enjoy it!

Visiting Solva we were delighted to find Raul’s gallery in an old chapel.Truly original and well conceived art with powerful messages - this was backed up in a conversation with Raul who is intelligent, witty and thoughtful. This gallery is the gem of a lovely village due to this brilliant man.

We were having a trip out and called in after seeing the colourful building as we crossed over the bridge into Solva. We parked in the car park and there was a huge painting on a wall that Raul had done, it was so beautiful and full of colours. The Gallery is in an old Chapel and when we went in Raul was working on a huge new piece of art. He stopped working and was more than happy to chat to us about his work and early life in Cuba and then London. We looked through his prints that his wife Heather does and as we decided on the one we wanted I turned around and saw a small canvas original that took my breath away (it was similar in style to the large piece he was working on). He took the time to take his pieces off the wall to show us what it would look like if hung on a wall and discussed how to frame it so that it would complete it in our home. We left with both the print and the original and the warm feeling of engaging with the artist who had actually done the artwork.
Thank you to both Raul and Heather for your time and sharing your story with us.

We came across the gallery unexpectedly and I’m so glad that we did. We we greeted by Heather and Raul who gave us a fantastic welcome and took time to show us their work and answer our questions. Raul has a very unique personality and played the piano and sang and entertained us and made it an enjoyable afternoon. I bought from his collection and I’m very happy with my purchase. Diolch yn fawr.
Highly recommend a visit if you’re in the area.
