About
Coquet Shorebase Trust is a water activity centre and we aim to make getting involved accessible for everyone. At our main centre at The Braid, Amble you can take part in canoe or kayak tours of the estuary looking at the wildlife, geology and history of the area from the water. We also offer powerboat courses so you can learn to handle a craft safely and receive a qualification. From our base at Druridge Bay Country Park, next to the visitor centre, you can hire kayaks, canoes, paddle boards, windsurfers and sailing dinghies to use on the lake. We are also able to offer dedicated instruction in both adult and children's activities Wetsuits, buoyancy aids and helmets are all provided and we have hot showers at both locations for when you come off the water. No experience is necessary for most activities but you do need to contact the office by phone or email to book so we can make sure that we can provide the best experience for you We look forward to welcoming you.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My parents, sister and I went kayaking for an hour on Druridge Bay. We felt very safe but were also given enough freedom to explore the lake by ourselves. It was very peaceful apart from when my sister splashed me deliberately.
We were armed with matching beach shoes and leggings so were well prepared for getting rather wet.

Thank you to fantastic tour lead Tim!
We got the estuary tour for our dad for Father’s Day and we have all thoroughly enjoyed the trip. Tim was a great lead, knowledgable and relaxed throughout which made the trip so easy to enjoy. All contact up to today was handled well and the instruction before we head off was really clear to understand. It was a really picturesque and peaceful afternoon for my dad and my sister and I and no doubt we’ll be returning in the very near future with a few more people to enjoy it with too! Thank you!

Had a fabulous estuary tour lead by Ken. The Trust provides all equipment and has changing rooms and showers , great facilities. The tour was beautiful , a very calm day, with wildlife and historical / local information provided by Ken who was very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful guide. The tour was organised by the Trust on our request and they managed to accommodate us a few days beforehand , so we were very grateful for this as we were in the area for only for a few days.
Highly recommend the Trust and the tour. Exceptional customer service.

This was a great estuary trip from Amble to Warkworth and I would definitely recommend this to a wide range of ages. It was very safe and all necessary equipment provided. We had a quick lunch on the trip which was enjoyable too. It's a pretty journey and we thought it was good value for money. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and made sure all of the group was involved in the trip and taken care of.

Very enjoyable estuary paddle led by Ken. We improved greatly over the journey. Great value for a 4 hour experience with a guide who is knowledgeable not only about kayaking but local history and wildlife as well. Would certainly do it again .

We had a lovely experience kayaking. All the guides were patient and kind and allowed the kayaking to go at a slow pace so everyone in the group could keep together.

This was a brilliant kayaking trip run by a first class charity/trust. Highly trained, very friendly and informative leaders. Great for all ages and abilities and everyone made to feel comfortable and safe. Even had the luxury of a small group and four members of staff. Couldn't have been a better trip and Ken's jokes had us laughing all the way up the river!

Brilliant kayaking tour of the river coquet. Wonderful staff, super friendly, informative and professional. Group size was around 10 and 4 supervisors...amazing! No other company has such small groups and great people to supervisor ratio. Our tour was leisurely and so much fun (saw another company do two tours in the time we did one). Everyone had a fantastic time and love the fact it's a charity too.
10/10, they couldn't have been better.

An absolutely brilliant day of 1-1 sailing tuition. I can’t recommend “Coquet shorebase” enough. Everyone’s really friendly and I loved Andrew’s teaching style which was great fun and cuts straight to the point without blinding you with technical details. Achieved much more than I imagined and came away with a big smile on my face. Looking forward to booking again soon.
Many thanks
