Such an amazing well kept place!! paths are accessible for all, I'd say prams and wheelchairs, mobility etc

we didn't take our bikes but I saw lots of people cycling around and it looked incredible. We did however just the short walk to the lookout and back and such incredible views.

It's incredible to get up so close to a wind farm thing and watch the way it works and read the information and hear nothing at all!!!! BLISS

We pulled up and the car park was busy so we assumed it was crowded but the place is so big with so many different walks we never saw anyone! Plenty of parking.

The cafe was great too really good prices and food.

incredible family day out with the dogs too and to think it's FREE!!! just a picnic needed xx

Can't wait to return!!!

The path from the visitors centre to the main walking areas is on quite a steep slope. It had not been gritted and was in a very dangerous ice covered state. They had managed to grit the access road for the windfarm workers vehicles so money obviously comes before the safety of the public. I do not expect the whole area to be gritted but this is a 300 metre path that all visitors have to navigate. When we finally made it to the area where the paths diverge and take you to different areas we found every bin in the area overflowing with bags of dog poo and takeaway coffee containers. This has not built up over a few days of bad weather. It was clear they had not been emptied for some considerable time. Dog owners are doing their bit - to an extent- by trying to use the bins but if the bin is clearly full why just dump the bag beside it ! A lovely winters walk spoiled. Rant over.

Standing under one of the turbines as the wind picks up is an awe inspiring experience. We took the electric bus tour with guide driver Stuart. He was very knowledgeable and hugely entertaining. I will definitely visit again.

Well, all I can say is, you must have been an extremely unpleasant customer as every time I have been there, I have had excellent service from friendly and well-mannered staff.

It is a lovely place, and if you /do/ arrive right at closing time, maybe a little politeness on your own part would have been in order.

Decided to give this a try on 5th Nov 2018 as my dog goes berserk with the sound of fireworks. Arrived at 5.45 & cafe open & had coffee & lovely cake. On that eve the dogs were permitted inside the cafe. Not many cars or people or dogs at that time.....but then they came. I have never seen do many dogs or people all graduating towards the one place - Whitelee Windfarm coffee house or at least their car park !! Every type of dog breed was there, all very well behaved ( as were the adults of course). In the cafe, everyone was chatting to everyone else, some dogs were playing with others or just lying down enjoying this firework free zone. A Ranger led dog walk took place at 7.30 & lasted about 45/50 mins. Everyone had to bring torches & lots of the dogs had light up collars etc. The procession was quite something to see !! After that went back to the cafe to have another coffee & chat till I finally left with one contented dog at 10.15. The staff at the Windfarm were marvellous, helpful & smiling throughout. Not a firework was heard there that eve....bliss. Will def go back next year, thanks to everyone there for making this happen !!

Whitelee is Europe's largest on shore wind farm. There are 140 wind turbines, all connected by miles of tracks, so this makes it ideal for cycling (good place to take your kids) and to encourage you, there are shower facilities and a cycle store. Bear in mind though that they built a wind farm here, so if you are going out on the moor, pick your day carefully or expect it to be windy.

The exhibits in the visitor centre are very good and interactive. They were put together by Glasgow Science Museum and it is staffed by the same sort of bright eyed, bushy tailed people you find there. I was expecting a propaganda piece for wind power, but that isn't the case, probably because Scottish Power, who own and run the place, also own and run a shed load of less green power stations.

The café has wonderful bright open outlook and its no problem getting served WHILE ITS OPEN!! The shop has the usual stuff you find in these places.

There's a good chance that I'm being over enthusiastic here, because I was expecting it to be rubbish. It's not rubbish and its free, so what is not to like?

Interactive and fun exhibition, lovely café and very clean modern and bright facilities with stunning views. The staff are all extremely helpful and polite which adds to a fun, welcoming and informative experience.
The wind farm is tremendous for traffic-free cycling / walks on wide easily navigable paths in a beautiful moorland environment. We cycled 20 miles and had still only covered a small fraction of the peaceful and scenic area. The strange thing is that the wind turbines do not take anything away from the beauty of the environment - in fact, you hardly notice them after a bit and provide a useful navigational aid as they are numbered, so you can't get lost! Can't wait to return.

I'm not getting into what happened but what I will say is my dog didn't make it home. Under no circumstances should you walk your dog here. IT IS NOT SAFE, YOUR DOG IS IN DANGER.

Loved my visit. We walked a total of ten miles along the various paths. Good to see there is a good choice of different lengths of paths. Well maintained throughout.
