This is the garden which inspired my love of plants and gardening when I first visited in the 1970's .Greenbank has deteriorated steadily in recent years with plummeting morale of long standing staff evident and consequently has lost all its former subtlety, complexity and identity...More

I can fully endorse the sentiments of the few previous comments, but I still found it an enjoyable visit. The yellowing lawns were a product of continuous sunshine for some time, and though the beds and hedges were in no way pristine, it still made...More

Had a great wee picnic basket for the kids and coffee to go on the grass! Beautiful surroundings and great staff!

I looked forward to visiting as had heard good things previously. Being a National Trust location I had high expectations. However I was very saddened by the apparent lack of care overall. From paint flaking off memorial benches, the beautiful fountain not working, overgrown hedges...More

My partner had wanted to revisit this garden as she had been to it some years previously. She was really disappointed at how things had changed and as a first time visitor myself I must say that I was distinctly unimpressed. The gardens did not...More

Both members of the National Trust so did not pay good money to visit these scruffy, weedy, overgrown and slug bitten gardens. Almost mid summer when gardens should be coming into their best - we could not believe our eyes. I agree with NickFive. The...More

The joy of Greenbank Gardens in the past has been its careful planting in a mulitude of engaging garden spaces. Today's trip (June 2018) saw the grounds looking unkempt and uncared for. One area looked much as another (mostly), basic weeding had not been carried...More

A beautiful peaceful garden, with surrounding woodland walks to explore. The grassy area beside the house is good for picnics with some play items for young children. The different gardens are varied with explanatory boards. Easy to spend time sitting on a bench enjoying the...More

We are frequent visitors. A pleasant way to spend an hour strolling round the paths leading to different plant types. The cafe is a great addition and all in all an oasis of tranquility.
