A light to warn shipping was first established on the Southerly tip of the Isle of Wight in 1323. Today the distinctive octagonal tower of St.Catherine's Lighthouse provides a waymark for vessels navigating in the English Channel and a guide to vessels approaching the Solent.

Each tour is approximately 40 minutes.

Tours of St Catherine's Lighthouse are operated by Andrew Booth, under licence from The Corporation of Trinity House.

If you have trouble walking this is not for you!!!! very steep hills and a walk to get to the light house ,spectacular views all around. Guided tour and the history of the light house, well worth the price for it. Would recommend if looking for something to do your be amazed by the views.

We had a tour of the lighthouse with a very interesting and knowledgable guide. Only 4 of us on the tour so we could ask lots of questions. Fascinating history and lovely views. Check opening times before you visit.

Visited last Sunday. Very good tour with a knowledgeable guide which took about half an hour. Her enthusiasm for the place shone through. Nice, busy pub nearby.

It's a light house so don't expect a museum or a spectacle or a place that has fireworks or entertainment for the kids. However, as light houses go, it's good value.

We were lucky to get a private tour with a very helpful volunteer guide who gave us an explanation of the history and technical information of this operational lighthouse. The tour itself was great. The tower is not too high with three levels and at each one we stopped and were given information on what was there. After the tour... More

Trinity House were very helpful in organising a tour for me and my guests from overseas. The Lighthouse is set in a beautiful location on the Isle of Wight with amazing views. We were met by Andrew at the gate who was very knowledgeable and friendly. He taught us the details of the Lighthouse and it's interesting history. A well... More

It's really worth visiting lighthouse. Guide told story of the lighthouse very exhaustively. Beautiful views, even on a cloudy day.

A short but very lovely walk down the country lane to where the lighthouse stands. Very useful to have a guide to talk about the lighthouse and Marconi connections. Small fee for the guide. Very steep steps near the top but managable. Worth visiting especially as I have never been in a lighthouse before. Lovely views from the top.
