Spectacular visit! It's inexplicable! The gardens are crazy and huge you can take pleasant walks. The interior of the building is a spectacle, room after room and room after room. I recommend stopping for a few days in Caprarola to visit them all, there are excellent restaurants and I recommend visiting the surrounding area, Lake Vico and all the surrounding countryside full of chestnuts and hazelnuts! 5 STARS

This would be unbelievably impressive and stand out even in Rome, but Caprarola? Well, that’s Italy. A huge building with marvelous rooms ( even the stairwell ) filled with endless frescoes and lovely ceilings, perhaps more than in any other city I have seen and that includes many, many cities in Italian. We spent at least two hours here ( and would have spent more, but we were already behind schedule ) and took hundreds of pictures. We often stood transfixed at the scale and amazingly the quality at that scale. There are buildings that are huge with huge amounts of frescoes, etc., but the quality of what you see is mediocre. It can still be fun, but what you see at the Villa Farnese is simply astounding. After the building, we went to the park and even my wife who has heart problems and MS had to see it. It was really great, particularly the buildings at the top. It was so good that we were going to add a second visit at the end of this trip, but we pooped out and that’s a shame. There are places you can see a second time. This is a place you can see over and over. Go and you will undoubtedly agree.

If you're in the vicinity of Caprarola (or indeed anywhere near Viterbo), definitely worth a visit. The main attraction in the main building is the frescoes, not just in the rooms (and up the wonderful spiral staircase), but also the large courtyard. Once you've had your fill of frescoes, head out into the big gardens, with an array of fountains leading up the hill to a second (closed) building. Much to our surprise (as Brits) there is no cafe or catering of any kind onsite (so take your own water).
If you're visiting from Viterbo or somewhere else nearby, the drive to Caprarola is also part of the pleasure, with beautiful landscapes and other hillside towns on the way.

Palazzo Farnese has an unusual plan: in fact it is pentagonal and dates back to the sixteenth century. The interior is quite well maintained and is totally frescoed. The gardens are a bit abandoned, but they are still beautiful and interesting. Free parking nearby, entrance fee 10 Euro, length of visit: about a couple of hours

An incredibly beautiful and magnifically preserved villa from the 16th century as well as breath taking fountains in the gardens.
The garden house can only be visited one morning a month if you want to.
Price was 12€ per person. Definitely worth it.

The Palace is beautiful, it deserves to be enhanced more.
Parking can be found along the slope that leads to the Palace, but there is a fee.
You can buy the ticket on site. There are toilets.
The Palace can be visited independently, however the route is pre-established and, once the external gardens have been visited, it will not be possible to return inside. The visit will end directly outside.
The grounds are well-tended, but not particularly noteworthy. To get to the palace beyond the gardens, there are quite a few steps, many of which are in poor condition, so comfortable shoes and lots and lots of caution.
There are no bars or other refreshment services, except for vending machines at the entrance, near the bathrooms. No gift shops, no souvenirs, not even outside the Palace. Maybe we could have found something by wandering around the country, but it's not exactly the best thing.
Let's try to enhance our treasures!

Gorgeous palace. Even before arriving in Caprarola you can admire its grandeur. €12 full entrance ticket which also includes the gardens (also the Casina but it only opens on the last Saturday of the month in the morning). Many rooms are jaw-dropping. Highly recommended. Free parking (few going up on the left), the rest at €1/hour. Many places to have lunch nearby. Unfortunately we found the fountains without water due to works...

We took advantage of the initiative on Sunday at the museum to visit Palazzo Farnese. An authentic discovery, we spent a good two hours there that flew by, each room is a true work of art and the enormous garden an authentic jewel. It would have been even better with a guide.
I put 4 dots instead of 5 only because it should be preserved and cared for better (especially the outside).

The Palace is wonderful and indescribable, a true sign of all the power of the Farnese family. It should be seen calmly, room by room, enjoying the ceilings and walls in every pictorial detail. I took about 200 photos of you. The external gardens and the residence of the President of the Republic are exceptional. Unfortunately I didn't find a bookshop or a free guide at the ticket office to wander around the rooms, much less souvenir gadgets. Sin.

Redirected to Caprarola almost by chance, after some research on the web, the visit to Palazzo Farnese was truly pleasant and full of beautiful discoveries. The Scala Regia is wonderful, almost alone worth the price of the ticket. In general, the entire palace is well preserved, as are all the frescoes that decorate the rooms of the structure.
We particularly appreciated the World Map Room, which contains a series of frescoes depicting the continents known at that time. Outside the Palace, in the rear part, there is a beautiful Italian garden, expertly cared for.
After a short walk inside the park (5-10 minutes) it is possible to arrive, following a beautiful staircase, at "La Casina del Piacere", unfortunately closed to visitors, however do not miss out on this part of the route, it too is full of charm.
So I would say that for those who are in the area, a stop at Palazzo Farnese is almost a must, we can say...two hours well spent!!.
Parking is simple, even on the "Dritta" street that leads to the Palazzo.
