Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stopped here on the way to Otavalo from Quito. The coffee is good, there are tasty snacks, traditional music a well stocked gift shop with good prices, and the place has a perfect panoramic view.
But... the best part was the adorable llamas!

Mira Lago is a great little rest stop to view the lake and grab a bite. We stopped here with our driver to snap a few photos of the lake and the volcano. They also have a clean and well-stocked convenience store. I'd definitely recommend stretching your legs here!

With the new Highway you sometimes miss the views. It goes by so fast, this is a nice place to stop, and regroup before heading into Otavalo. If you are driving be sure to stop and "smell the flowers", just kidding, but it is a great place to get photos, and see Imbabura and if it is clear, Cotacachi. Both Volcans are spectacular and frame this spectacular valley with the lake in the middle. Even if on the bus, and do not have too much luggage, it is a nice break from travel, take advantage of it, and catch the next bus, they come by often.

A great place to stop and relax when in Ecuador. We stopped there on way from Quito to Otavalo to grab a coffee and some snacks. The views of the mountains are great.

Stopped on our way to Otavalo and enjoyed a nice late lunch with spectacular views of the valley and lake. Friendly wait staff. Husband and I had the Parilla (grill) for 2. Had chicken, steak and pork with a fee sausages. Good value and good meat. Only not great thing is they do not offer wine. Not a huge deal.

The Lago Mira is right next to a Hat Factory, you're likely walked through a souvenir shop to get the viewpoint. There wasn't much to see on the lake because this was distantly from where the view point is, but the landscape is very spectacular. We have a quick look at the viewpoint, the greenish landscape gave more my attention than the lake itself.
At the viewpoint there were two kid standing with Llama if you want to have a photo they're expect a small amount.
Is very strange the only way to reach the viewpoint is to walk through a shop and cafeteria. Visitors are likely obligated to buy or been forced to buy something, but is not really mandatory to do that, you're freely to look around

Stopped for snacks and a bathroom (very clean) break but were surprised at the beautiful views across the lake to the mountains. Nice clean cafe and actually did a bit of shopping (beautiful scarves at reasonable prices). Our group really enjoyed this stop on our day trip outside of Quito.

Traveling north to Otavalo on the Pan American Highway we stopped here to enjoy the views of the lake and Andes. The cafe is bright with large windows overlooking the lake and countryside. There was live traditional music provided by a very entertaining family. The father and children played and sang and were quite accomplished. Coffee, snacks, light fare and souvenirs are available. Outdoors there were opportunities for children to be photographed with a llama or with their faces in cut outs of people in traditional dress. There are also clean bathrooms facilities... a must for the tourist. Mira Lago is a good place to stop.
