Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I really enjoyed being there, perhaps even more because I didn't expect it at first. I went on a trip from Cabo San Lucas to La Paz and then back via Todos Santos. I like extreme things (the biggest, smallest, the longest, shortest, etc.) and standing on this marked line made me feel special. It's a beautiful place.

In Junior High, we studied the Tropic of Cancer and the different locations it circled around the world. The one location we studied was San Jose. 40 years later I was finally able to see that location. They have some tourist items but it is more for history on the side of the highway.
Going through the arch, there is a 10 foot globe showing to help, though the globe is not truly accurate, you get the idea and understand more about the Tropic of Cancer

There is a stripe thought the building and parking lot marking the Tropic of Cancer. Also cute chapel with lovely brick dome. A few shops including one where there were some beautiful furniture made of Palo chino (I think I got that right) wood, which must be from a large tree, but we've seen very few large trees around here.

Stopped at the monument. All the shops were closed but there was a ice cream store next door that was amazing

I usually pass by this place a couple of times while traveling along route 1.
I'll make a stop on the way to the airport just to check it out and stretch my legs.
Some vehicles park in front however there's a very large space in the back too.
The giant blue painted globe is there. And that's right next to the rest rooms. If you're thinking ahead, then bring some tissue paper with you because you might need it. I don't ever recall these restrooms being stocked with paper.
It's as terrible as some reviews make it out to be. In fact, a couple of years ago, there were no vendors around. Now it seems like there's a bit more happening inside: some local artisans and people selling beverages. Little by little it seems to be gaining inhabitants.
Again, don't expect much here. Just decent stop to use the bathroom, stretch your legs, and take a selfie.

This monument and local shops was rundown...could be so much more. There were only a few people selling things with most of the cubbies empty. Bathrooms were awful....dirty, broken toilets and no tissue paper. Could be so much more to attract tourists with a little effort by the government.

Heading back from Malandra in La Paz to Cabo, we planned our trip to ensure we stopped at the Tropic of Cancer. It's located on kilometer marker 81.5 just south of the Santiago turn off. Never seen anything this before but definitely was very nice to see in person. The chapel building has three murals and several items left by locals and those visiting. The restrooms were unlocked but definitely need attention. The shops were closed when we arrived. There is a white female dog shown in the pics that is very friendly and will sit for treats. Overall, simple monument, but how often does a person cross the Tropic of Cancer.

We stopped here on our way to LaPaz. It had a beautiful shrine and monument marking the Tropic of Cancer. Restrooms were horrible but better than nothing!

We were heading to Santa Rita thermal waters heading from San Jose and came across this sightseeing spot. It is beautiful and has its own little chappel, explains a bit of what the Tropic of Cancer is and what points it crosses round the globe.
It is a great point of reference when going to Santiago, BCS...a reminder that you are almost there!

We stopped at the roadside stop on the Tropic of Cancer. They had an interesting shrine there as well as several small shops that were open for business.
