Used as an event location for locals, this charming building is what's left from a prohibition casino and hotel complex for north Americans. Well worth a gander. Don't miss the original casino room rotunda with it's fantastic ceiling or the stunning wall paintings in the reception room just off of that painted by an artist who influenced muralist Diego Rivera.... When my husband and I first landed in Ensenada, we really were not very interested in attending the Cultural Center (CEARTE.) But nudging and invitations from friends helped us experience a wealth of great performances. Jazz concerts on the outdoor stage, dancers on the platform under the canopy and performances inside the building. Jazz concerts, beautiful dancers, Ensenada orchestra, performances... More

The cultural center has a nice little museum that for a couple bucks donations. It used to be a hang out from Frank Sinatra and friends. The grounds are beautiful, you will often see wedding photos being taken. they also have frequent special events, we prefer the 'foodie' ones, great place to stroll around and enjoy the fresh sea air... We visited the center on a carnival cruise over the 4th of July. It has a very interesting history. One of the stories our tour director said. Was that is the home of the margarita maybe it is maybe it is not. We had the Mexican Coca Cola made with cane sugar. It was a nice treat on a hot... More

Visited the cultural center on a shore excursion off a Disney cruise ship. We would have liked to spend more time there. We were fascinated by the history of this place as a spot built so Americans could have a place to drink alcohol during the Prohibition Era.

Yes, I would recommend, especially if you are interested in the culture and history of Ensenada and the Mexican peoples. It's a small museum, within walking distance of the cruise ship terminal, less than 45 minutes to see if you take time to read the history. Much is in Spanish, but there are interpretation books available and much has both... More

We took a ship's shore excursion in Ensenada that ended up at the Cultural Center for drinks and a folkloric performance. It was hot, and the drinks hit the spot. The building was once a casino and along with the grounds is definitely worth seeing. The show was delightful. Folk dances from various parts of Mexico were performed. The dancers... More
