This is our favorite spot for boondock beach camping in Baja Sur. We spent the better part of month in Ja./Feb. Camped out on the east end of the beach, away from the restaurants. The water is gin clear, the beach sand is soft (several beaches we've visited in Baja have very abrasive, rough gravel). We enjoyed our kayak almost... More

We went to Playa El Tecolote by bus. We walked a short distance from the restaurant (spendy) and set ourselves up under a palapa in front of an aqua marine sea looking out to Isla Espritu Santo. The water was warm enough for swimming. The beach was perfect. Might say that the bus goes by Balandra Beach on the way,... More

Close to balandra this is also a very nice beach. Different than balandra as you will find more restaurants and people here. You can't walk so far in the sea but the waives and view are great. Good place to spend your day !!

Beautiful beach with great views of Isla Espiritu Santo. Ate a meal at the restaurant on the beach--excellent food and service. Recommend stopping here. It was a little breezy so bring a jacket.

Outstanding landscapes, very wild while close to La Paz (Half an hour driving quietly). The slope to get in the sea is very flat so their is very few risk for kid to go to the sea;` 2 or 3 beach restaurants/cafes very welcoming It is a spot for a good rest and sea bath.

We had a wonderful time at this gorgeous beach at the end of the road past the Baja Ferry terminal. It's a beautiful unspoiled sand beach with rolling surf, but fine for swimming, which I did. Or body surfed! Good for beach walking too.

We were so disappointed in Balandra that we tried Playa Tecolote instead. Wow!!! The beach is vast with white sand and lots of shells. You can see Espirit du Santu out on the aqua/turquoise waters - really serene and picturesque, Although there are not a lot of people on the beach, there are some lucky gringo campers taking advantage of... Beach was a lot more rough than Balandra. There are restaurants there and we ate at Palapa Azul and were given a great seat practically in the ocean (it was that close). Buildings are all a bit run down, but food was good and people were friendly. Once you get away from the restaurant area, the beach is very wide... More

This is a beach that has actually waves and lots of sea birds. There are a couple of restaurants in the area they are not fancy. It is a good spot to visit in conjunction with Balandra Beach where there are no restaurants-well there are trucks with some food normally and street food sellers, but not a formal restaurant.
