Mercado Hildago very expensive leave the local areas to get good prices and food. You need to venture out in order to get the real experience. I guess it is a good tourist area.

A good place to experience local culture and fresh produce in Tijuana. People are friendly. Try the churros and caramel banana. Buy local fruits and vegetables and of course spicy jalapenos. Worth a visit.
