Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

So many items were made in China. Hardly any true Mexican made wares.
Very disappointed when looking for handmade stuff.
The veggies, fruit and herbs were wonderful though.

This is a must visit site. Great market. Every kind of fruit, vegestable, cheese, piñata, candy and so much more. You will see many products not readily available in the US. In the RIO area, close to the border. Parking inside the plaza.

Very happy that we made an effort to find this market. It was very large and very clean. The fruits and veggies were colorful and delicious looking. There were booths selling pinatas, dishes and cookware. There were eating places in the market as well.

The Mercado Hildago is a long walk or short drive from the main tourist district but it's a wonderful destination if you want a taste of what shopping looks like for the local population. The Mercado is massive and filled with exotic fresh and packaged goods - not to mention a wide assortment of pottery, chalk ware, piñatas and candies. The best part, for me, was watching one gentleman remove the outer husk from coconuts just down the aisle from a woman artfully removing the thorns from prickly cactus - a local delicacy.

I when there to buy a piñata for Christmas night. Going from USA it’s location is good. It was a Saturday before Christmas so there wer more people than the usual. You can get almost everything for your party or event. Kids party you can get the piñata, candies, decorations, wrestling 🤼‍♀️ masks, toys, etc. If you are planning to have a Mexican meal it the right place to shop from mole, spices, fruits, veggies, pots, etc. You can find here some fruits you can’t buy anywhere else in Tijuana.
I recommend to walk around and ask for prizes before shopping at the first store. I saw the same piñata going from 140-250 pesos.
The restrooms were clean you have to pay 3 pesos to use it. So you will need change if you like to use them. There is also a little coffee shop and a tiny plaza. Parking it’s an issue.
We pay 10 pesos for 15 min. We could have pay 5 but we didn’t know you could get your ticket stamp I order to pay half. So don’t forget to get your parking ticket stamp. It’s not a place to take your kids, it’s very crowded. I left them in the car with dad.
If you want to get a little taste of a Mexican Mercado don’t forget to visit and see it’s folklore.
