About
History of Horno Alto Nº 3, Horno Alto Nº 3 was designed by Arthur G. McKee & Co. from Cleveland, Ohio. The installation began in October 1965 and it began operating in January 1968, with the capacity to produce 1,500 to 2,000 tons of cast iron per day. It had the most advanced technologies, notable among which were the electronic programmer of raw materials and the automatic system for the control of furnace combustion. With the beginning of operations of Horno Alto Nº 3, the Monterrey Foundry reached a production of a million tons of steel per year, which made it the most important steel mill in Mexico.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very interesting old foundry museum. You get to walk through a lot of historical vignettes and through most of the old foundry itself including the acero. Easy to spend several hours here. There is a restaurant and cafe in the museum as well as others scattered throughout the park. It is nice to see that they have cleaned up the foundry site to the point where lush gardens and trees are able to grow again.

We've travelled 4m through the full length of Mexico and this would easily be the best museum we have seen. It covers the steelworks process, the changes in technology, the labour force issues. While much is in Spanish, if you just run Google Translate in camera mode all is quickly and easily translated.
There is also a planatarium environmental movie, a blast furnace animation/movie, and a high viewing platform. All in all a high quality experience which the rest of Mexico could learn a lot from.

This is one of the best science museums I've been to so far. It's very well set. It's essentially a restored old steel mill which was completely restored for display purposes, and you get to walk all around it with different exhibits all related to the process in which steel is made.
The exhibitions are very well designed and maintained. My children love this museum, and I definitely recommend any tourist coming to Monterrey with children to set aside 3 to 4 hours for this museum.
It's located in Fundidora Park, which also hosts several other attractions, some permanent and some temporary. Also during the weekends they usually host public events. All in all, it's a great place for a walk with large beautiful gardens.
If possible try to avoid the weekeds, as it can get very crowded. Parking is costly, but there are plenty of lots close to the different areas within the park.

The staff here are incredibly accommodating, and the museum tour is short, but incredibly interesting. Also, my work had our Xmas party here, and the place is an incredibly elegant place to have a large party.

Unusual exhibit in the middle of a beautiful park. My husband liked this a lot more than I did, but it was still worth the visit. The guides were excellent.
