Address: Manzanillo, Mexico

An active, snow-capped volcano well-worth a side trip.

Really can't think of any reason to return.

There is no charm left in Manzanillo. Just a string of resorts on dirty beaches. The town itself does have some of it's original charm but it`s a long way from any of the resorts... read more

This beach is long, good for walking, waves much stronger use caution, see lots of cargo ships in port, shopping access easy from side road to Walmart on and off beach, lots of locals fish here and play on the beach by a handful of smaller Mexican condo accommodations. Playa Miramar is much nicer beach but need taxi to get to... More

There is no charm left in Manzanillo. Just a string of resorts on dirty beaches. The town itself does have some of it's original charm but it`s a long way from any of the resorts and the harbour is seriously polluted. The famed Las Hadas has seen better days but I can`t believe the amount of garbage that washes up... More

This is roughly 12 miles up the mountain (so we were told by the staff working there) and the road is horrendous. 4x4 is the only option! People driving by offered us a ride for about 10 of the 12 miles (in the back of their truck) where we walked the last 2 miles. Sounds easy enough except the air... More

This is a wonderful National Park, but it's NOT near Manzanillo, and it's not even in the same state (Colima). This volcano is in the southern part of Jalisco, and is easier and closer to visit if you'll be in Ciudad Guzmán, the city of Colima, or even in Guadalajara. You can drive to the park, but it's a steep,... More

Found the roads quite well maintained. We had a very good tour guide who gave us a good history lesson. Had a taste of authentic Mexican food which was very good and very good beer! These people are very proud of their country as they should be.

We stays at the Nevada de Colima campground for three nights to walk to the top. The walk is very easy and seems more like a dirt track than a real hiking track. It's not very difficult to walk up there so it is even for small kids accessible and enjoyable. Maybe some persons will have difficulties due to the... More

This should definitely be on your 'to see' list. Beautiful and interesting sight to see. There are 'twin' volcanos... one dormant, the other active. There are some small restaurants in the area and some have excellent views of the volcano.
