On this trip I was on crutches so we picked the city tour as it gave us a good overview of the city. The tour guide was well versed in his knowledge of the city and his english was very good. We were very lucky as there were only 5 people in our group so it was much more personal.
3 people spoke spanish and my wife an I knew very little spanish. The only negative issue was that the guide spoke more spanish than english. So my wife & I felt we may have lost out on some of the Finer points.
There was a fair bit of walking but I was able to manage it fine. We toured the Mercado, Cathedral, a local Square in the Oldest part of the city and then stopped for Ice Cream. We also stopped at a Boutique Tequila Plant and stopped to watch the Cliff Divers.
We had been picked up at the hotel and then were dropped off at the lobby. The shuttle was modern with lots of room.
This is a good tour to get an overview of Mazatlan if this is your first visit.
We purchased the tickets online after we arrived in Mexico as we wanted to see what other deals we could find and this was the best & cheapest. Regular price, $79.00 - online price $27.00.
This would be a good for a group of 5 or more or even if you are travelling with Teenagers. The teenagers may grumble but they will will find some cool things by the end of it.

This was my second time using your company for the horseback riding tour. Lourdes was our horse leader once again, and she is wonderful. We spent about an hour and 15 minutes riding horses on the beach and through the backlands filled with palm trees. We visited the newest baby horse just born 4 weeks ago, and found some baby turtles in the lake. This time, despite having purchased the same thing, we were not brought on the larger boat for the narrated tour around the islands before horseback riding. Were taken across on a very small boat to meet to tractor that brought us to Lourdes, but the guide that accompanied us was very nice and informative. All in all, my friends enjoyed the experience just as much as my sister and I did back in October of 2020. Thank you. I hope to return to Mazatlán again in the future. I would recommend using this company for this Stone Island tour and beach horseback riding. Although we didn’t need it on this trip, I also used them for private airport transfer back in October. Customer service is very responsive, helpful and accommodating. Thumbs way up! Thank you!

We booked three (3) excursions with Mazatlan Tours and they were all great. The quality of the excursions and the vendors was excellent. Transportation to the excursions was reliable and the drivers courteous. Booking online directly with Mazatlan Tours was far better than attempting to setup excursions with the resort, which invariably includes pressure to attend timeshare sales presentations. I was also particularly impressed with Mazatlan Tours’ customer service. Throughout the process there were both email and chat communications and I found the responsiveness to be amazing. I had 100% confidence in the customer experience from the very beginning. I strongly recommend Mazatlan Tours to anyone wanting reasonably priced, high quality excursions.

When I travel to Mexico I always like to book a private transport for me, my wife and our 2 children(ages 2 and 4). As we usually have 3 large suitcases, double stroller and a couple of backpacks, it takes up a bunch of room and we like to go to and from the airport in comfort without making stops at other resorts.
I booked, in advance, transport for 4-8 people. The smaller sized vehicles were for 1-3 people. This gives us enough room for the four of us and all of our gear.
The cost of the transportation was $229 dollars round trip from the airport to the resort. Expensive, but I don’t mind paying extra to ensure that we are comfortable and don’t have to worry about extra stops and that we have enough room for us and our gear.
The person met us at the airport, as agreed, and the bus we took from the airport was new and comfortable with plenty of room. Exactly what we had paid for.
On the email it had said to call before the return trip to confirm. The day before departure I tried calling the multiple numbers from my cell phone but with no success. I got the front desk people to help me with the call and after some time they were able to get through. The person on the phone said they would be at the resort at 11:30am the next day to pick us up.
The following day they showed up about 25min late and showed up in a small taxi cab that is meant for 3 passengers. I was told that the bus was broken down(which I don’t believe) and that we would have to take the cab to the airport.
At this point we had no choice as we had to get to the airport on time so all four of us had to wedge into the backseat of a cab. They had to use ropes to tie our luggage to the roof and then wedge the double stroller into the passenger seat of the cab. Not what I had paid 229 dollars for. They should have at the very least sent a vehicle that was large enough to accommodate us and our luggage.
The following day I received an email from Mazatlan Tours saying that they would refund me 30 dollars or I could use the 30 dollars as a credit for another tour. I responded that this was unacceptable and that I should be refunded at least near half of what I had paid, if not more. They did not respond.
We have taken private transportation most times when we travel south and have never had an issue. We will not use Mazatlan Tours in any of our future travels and definitely would not recommend anyone else use them either. We feel scammed as we paid over 100 dollars for a cab ride to the airport. Same on you!

We booked this tour because it was much cheaper than a similar one offered by the cruise line. We were taken from the ship to the facility where we got our safety gear and were instructed on how to operate the 4x4 Rhino. Then we took off for a mini-city tour. Then we spent about 45 minutes going around and around in this very large dirt pit. We got so very dusty but that is better than getting muddy--which we would have had there been any rain. Aftwwards, we were taken to a beach where we could view the turtles and take pictures. For the price, this was a great tour. Our tour leader was awesome!!!

We couldn't have asked for a better experience. There were 12 of us and we worked with the CSR and established we needed two vans. Communications was excellent the representative was at the airport with my name on the sign we all went directly to the vans and loaded all our luggage into two well kept new vans and were on our way in 30 minutes to our resort. Great company and great experience. Thanks would use your service again. Scott

If in Mazatlan consider the tour into the Sierra Madre Hills with Johann and Sandra’s tours. Their guide was knowledgeable and efficient in keeping the tour moving along. Roberto, our guide, taught us some of the history of that part of Mexico and interesting facts about the trees and their.medicinal uses while driving up in into the hills. We visited artisans in Capala, Concordia, Malpika whose crafts were impacted by big business in the large cities in Mexico. The Artisan Bakery in Malpika has fabulous cookies, the silver artist was willing to negotiate and the pottery craftsmen showed us their craft. Victor, our diver, was a great help to a guest with mobility issues and kept us hydrated with water and beer. Everyone, everywhere, wore masks and showed concern for our safety. A great learning experience. My only criticism is that the guide stopped interacting with us on the return trip until a guest started asking him questions. Definitely worth doing. I would do other tours with this company on a future visit.

Perfect excursion for my family of 7 with age ranges from 13-17. Our cruise ship was late into port, but they totally accommodated us! The boat tour was fun and up close and personal with cool caves and wildlife. The "mexican taxi" was a blast as we drove through the development. Once at the restaurant we were seated and served quickly with drinks always available at the bar. The beach was fun with very few vendors pressuring you. Kids loved the horseback ride and banana boat ride. Our guide Jorge was outstanding in helping us have a fun time and making sure we were all taken care of. Yes...this is not a "luxury" type of trip, but it was authentic, fun and well worth it! Highly recommend this as you get a lot of bang for your buck!

We enjoyed our tour to Stone Island. We were picked up right from our Airbnb and taken to the launch and then enjoyed a small tour around the bay area. Unfortunately, our guide on the Catamaran did not speak very much English so we did not get all he was saying about the area. It was still fun. Our tractor was waiting for us when we reached the island and we were quickly taken to our restaurant where Jorge was waiting for us. He was a very good hist and spoke fluent Spanish and English. Our lunch was ready very quickly and we enjoyed it. We went for horseback rides but were not very happy with the condition of the horses. They looked tired, dehydrated and underfed. One guy in our group was kicked by the horse in front as his horse got too close. He had to ice his leg. We did not opt for 2nd activity and just rested on beach but later wished we had done the banana boat. ATVs looked like fun but only 1 of 3 of us could drive so we did not do it. My daughter enjoyed a mango on the beach and we enjoyed the open bar the whole time. Our trip back was fun and interesting with cruise ships passing and all on the Catamaran were enjoying dancing and the music over the speakers. We were driven back to our Airbnb. It was a great trip and good value for the price. Great memories!

Wow! I had an amazing guided scuba tour with “Tiny”. Super fun and beautiful boat ride out to the site. The staff along with the dive master, “Tiny”, we’re so beyond kind and very straight forward. He trusted me to know my stuff since I’m certified, so I didn’t feel like he overexplained anything. We had a great dive, water was warm, and he tried very hard to make my dive memorable by finding all of the sea creatures he could. Saw lots of rays, puffer fish, octopi, starfish, and fish! I’m definitely coming back here in November/December!!

Hi..Is it safe to prepay? How do they know where to pick you up, as I have never been there and do not know where my cruise ship drops us off..thanks
Written 3 October 2019
I concur with the others... we prepaid and it was safe and no problem. And finding the pickup location was not difficult at all. Usually you just follow the signs or those who are holding up the signs. They generally speak English and are waiting there for when the passengers get to port. Their bread-and-butter is working the cruise ship circuit so they generally have things well in hand for when passengers arrive.

We booked a tour with Pronatours and I would like do do a review of it. However, I cannot find the appropriate place for this review. Is Mazatlan tours related to Pronatours in any way?
Written 4 February 2017
We have no relation with Pronatours, that is a very separate company.
Written 12 February 2017
Just 3 of us. Would like to see divers. And central market. Is it best just to take taxi? Or do you offer shorter Tours? Maybe 2 hours. Coming in on cruise ship.
Written 18 November 2016
Hola Hope! We're happy to help answer your questions.
Our City Tour will introduce you to the Cliff Divers and the Central Market, along with all the other sights and attractions of Mazatlan. The tour is 4 hours but that includes the pick-up at your hotel. Our Private City Tour is only 3 hours long, but that is pretty much the minimum time you'll need to see the sights and learn about Mazatlan.
You can make a reservations on our website by clicking the "website" link in the upper right portion of this page and clicking "Book It!" on the tour page of your choice, or also by calling us toll-free at the phone number shown on the page and we can assist you with your booking over the phone.
Have a wonderful time in Mazatlan!

Hi,
Wondering how much a taxi from Mazatlan airport to Rui Emerald Bay would cost each way? Also should this be booked in advance or just turn up and go to a particular company/place?
Thanks Audrey
Written 8 May 2016
Cost of taxi from airport to the Riu should be about $30-$35 USD. Get your taxi out front of the airport though, not from the hounds inside the airport. Booking for Mazatlan Tours is made by phone when you get there. They usually have groups going daily from the Brujha in Cerritos which is just around the corner from the Riu. The tour bus picks you up at the Riu too.

Hi, do all vendors honor your discount card or is there every confusion on the discount card? FYI, we've already booked with Mazatlan Tours and will be seeing you soon.
Written 26 February 2016
Hi Thawk77, the vendors on our list honor the discount card. Once in a great while a new employee may not have been informed of the card but if ever anyone doesn't you can give us a call or have them give us a call and we'll sort it out for you. Thanks for booking with us, we are so happy to have the opportunity to show you a great time in Mazatlan!
