We mad the mistake of going to the Historic Center on a Monday and the art museum and the Archeological museum were closed. But there is still a lot to see. We happened to be passing by the Angela Peralta Theater and there was a tour on the theater which we decided to take and it was excellent. We heard the history and we got to see the inside of the theatre, a modern theater, and then viewed a art exhibit along one of the hall ways. The cost was 20 pesos as I remember.

At the site where this theater is build, originally a large ficus tree gave shelter to music performances for locals at this lovely port. With time, the theater was built on the beaux arts schools style with the charming characteristic that the foyer atrium is open to the sky!! Current director Canadian Gordon Campbell is a very dynamic and creativo leader in the arts scene in Mazatlan. A joy to have listened to the correspondence between Mozart, Constance his wife and Mozart mother's with the music composed at the moment. The letters where read by Angélica Aragon in beautiful English. The intelligence and sense of humor of Mozart is great fun.

Stunning restored theater! We attended a concert while in MZT and I only have two complaints. First, in order to get tickets online it directs you to message the theater via WhatsApp, which felt sketchy. We went there for the show anyway and found that they were sold out of tickets, but as we were leaving the box office, two wonderful people approached us as sold us their extra tickets at cost. Ultimately we didn't get to be together for the show, but it was still very enjoyable. The only other issue is that they didn't do a great job with volume management for the show - it was more than loud enough for a much larger space - and should have been evaluated better prior to the performance, but that's likely an issue on the part of the show itself, not the theater. Overall I would say4-4.5/5. If you like older theaters, this is a must see.

The concerts here are varied and it is a very comfortable place to watch them. There really are no bad seats, but the floor seats are definitely more comfortable than the cheaper seats in the balconies. A really intimate setting for concerts.

Great old theater in nicely maintained condition. Attended a Beatles show that was very well done. There are no snacks or drinks allowed in the theater or available for purchase. The process of getting the tickets at the theater was very disorganized and took an hour. The problem could have been with the specific shows staff rather than the theaters staff. Sat on the first row side which provided a great view of the stage. Would recommend attending a show there but get your tickets in advance.

A fantastic old theater with quite a history. We saw The Nutcracker and it was amazing! The theater is beautiful inside with seating in a horse-shoe shape. Some seats in the second row at the top of the theater are not view seats so be aware.

January, 2003. Nice to see this beatifully restored theatre. It is about 3 blocks west of the central market and 2 south. There's a lovely shaded square out front and the Nidart Gallery is across the street (S). It's a good place to use the bathroom downtown as well.

It cost 10 pesos admission. I was nice and cool in the theatre, a break from the midday heat. It has beautiful wood and detailed balconies. There's a gallery attached upstairs that has art and pictures of what the spot looked like before restoration, quite the accomplishment.

Be sure to see the Nidart Gallery across the street. It will look like its not open, then a woman will come ask you if you want to come in. Most pieces are for sale.

They have a varied program that will suit all tastes, though I have tried a bit of most styles, I prefer the more modern shows like The Platters The only thing you need to watch is when sitting in the balcon the placement of the pillars. Also, the seats are a bit close together for North American tastes. It would also be nice if they included some more traditional Mexican performances.

I've made it a point to visit the best-known opera houses worldwide in my travels, and the Angela Peralta does not disappoint! It's gorgeous architecture and storied history make it a must-see in Mazatlán. Better yet, book tickets for one of the functions. Mazatlán has high quality opera, symphony, ballet, modern dance and theater.

We saw the elegant Angela Peralta Opera House while on an excursion from our cruise ship. It was very impressive considering it was in total disrepair for years. The roof had been blown off during a hurricane and it was unused for years. The theater has been completely restored using a lot of the original design elements. Original iron railings and wooden floors look fantastic. The theater is situated in the historic area of town and there are many beautiful buildings on every block. Restored cobblestone streets lined with trees make for a very enjoyable walking tour.
