Still love this place. They had a huge butterfly that looked like a float that you could walk up a staircase and take a photo. I always go and people watch.

Like the Malecón, plaza Machada gets better every year. Although we stay at a beach resort we taxi here three or four times every visit for dinner and the night lights. Love it.

The Plaza Machado is in Centro Historico and is about a 30 minutes north along the coastal road, the Malecon. A nice taxi or pulmonea ride - but to far to walk.
