we wandered around these old cobblestone streets and found galleries and shops and restaurants and the beautiful plaza - and felt safe and met interesting people.. it was a blast. SO worthwhile- I would never go to Mazatlan and miss the adventure, the charm, all the fun and amazing stores with local handicrafts..in old Mazatlan...

We walked from the Cathedral, through Plaza Machada, down to the Malecon, there we hired a Pulmonia, for a tour of the High Area of Old Mazatlan, where the view of the city is tremendous and breathtaking, you can also see the Lighthouse, and cruise ship terminal from this vantage point. It cost 100 pesos, so well worth it.

Get away from the touristy places and spend an afternoon exploring Old Mazatlan. The architecture and colors in the city center are very interesting and beautiful. Local plazas allow for people watching and just relaxing. Check out the HUGE local marketplace. A combination of Farmers Market and whatnot. Pretty interesting.

Great tour to learn about old Mazatlan! Lots of history...well worth the time. Take the tour from Pueblo Bonito Emerald bay....from Eduardo! He is great and has a lot of knowledge of the city and is pretty funny.

We spent a week in Mazatlan through the Dia delos Muertos celebration... Un Real !! Beauty, Friendly, Culture... Deep Sea fishing, hiked the lighthouse, shoping in the Market place, and of course the Day of the Dead parade .... Once in a lifetime.... If your lucky..

I like to go to places where I can be with the people. See their houses, parks, shops. I felt very safe walking around old town, (olas atlas) taking in the culture n life style of the Mazatlán nationals. People were helpful even if it was part English part Spanish. I sat in machado plaza, visited the market place (upstairs... More

We did everything mazatlan, and this is a must. The market is the place to shop for sure. Stay clear of the meat market as this is sure to turn any stomach....

All the superior restaurants, culture and peace and quiet are in Old Mazatlan. Short distance from El Faro, the Merchado, and the south end of the Malecon.
