I didn't visit the location at the airport because we bought beautiful art at the PV location. Carolina was wonderful - she explained how the art was made and gave us plenty of time to consider which pieces to purchase (we purchased two decorative vases - her web site gave a great preview). She wrapped them up for us as... More

The listing here is listed as the airport. I met the owner Carolina at the gallery in the central area of Puerto Vallarta at Corona 176, just steps off of the well known Malecon. She was very personable and walked me through the steps of the making of this very delicate pottery from the state of Chihuahua. There was a... More

I thoroughly enjoyed browsing through this wonderful gallery with its splendid collection of Mexican art, jewelry and countless other specimens. The sales person on duty described all objects I was interested in and when I was leaving without purchasing anything (no room in my luggage for the way home, unfortunately), she wished me a good day and a wish that... Leave enough time when you are departing the Vallarta airport, there is great shopping there! This store is not like your average airport store. They have a beautiful selection of Mata Ortiz pots and are incredibly knowledgeable about these works of art. They range in sizes and costs. I was a bit apprehensive thinking that things like this would be... More

This was my second trip where I made a purchase at this gallery. The quality of the pieces here is outstanding. The work here is not cheap by any means but it is still less expensive to comparable pieces I've seen in the states. Even if you're not buying, their are some stunning show pieces that make a visit worth... More

I agree with the comments previously posted. The Mata Ortiz pottery is uniquely beautiful ... generally simple and yet exquisite designs: crafted entirely by hand without a potter's wheel! Claudia is a lovely person and her husband Alejandro is a great birding guide ... we took 2 birding tours with Alex in 2005 and will be back with him next... More

Puerto Vallarta can be full of tourist-y junk so it was great to find Claudia and Alex Martinez's Mata Ortiz Art Gallery (pottery and jewelry) at 268A Lazaro Cardenas in the Zona Romantico. Claudia really is a fine person to deal with. She is very friendly and knowledgeable. She knows many of these potters personally and she and Alex are... More
