The walk alone is worth it! Bit rocky and treacherous in places but only because we happened to go at a busy part of the Mexican holidays! Lovely little beach area with places to eat and lots of families enjoying a day out. Walk past that first restaurant - they were very adamant that if you chose to sit in... More

Named after the catfish that once came here, this beach is beautiful and popular. No access road so you either hike in over a rocky trail or you take a short water taxi ride from Zihuatanejo. We went on a Sunday and it was 2/3 locals and 1/3 tourists. The deal seems to be that you choose a restaurant, they... More

We didn't stay on this beach! The beach is very narrow and totally overcrowded with deckchairs. The water is teeming with people as if you were in an ant's nest. Playa de la Ropa isn't ideal but miles better than this.

Playa Las Gatas is advertised as the best snorkeling beach in the bay. It used to be when I visited many years ago. However, we visited New Year's weekend. There were so many people thrashing about that were I a fish, I would swim a long ways away. There were few fish and many people. Oh, well. It was new... More

Fun local beach. Water in the cove is warm and clear and good snorkeling. Fun for kids. Grab a water taxi at the pier and make a day of it. Otilios is where we enjoy going.

eat right there then snorkel or just float in the water - there is a short trail from Playa la Ropa or you can take an inexpensive boatride

What's best about this place is how CHEAP you can have a great time there. I got to the beach and back for 40 pesos and rented snorkel equipment for onlly 80 pesos. I decided not to eat there cause it was way to crowded, but I had perfect time to snokel and eat back in Zihuatanejo.

A quick ride in the boats from the pier in Zihua. Cheap travel, make sure you keep you receipt it will get you the return trip no extra cost. There are lots of restaurants/bars along the beach very reasonable. You do have to buy beer/beverages or food to use the chairs. Very quiet when we were there, mid week during... More

Walked to the beach via the trail from Playa La Ropa and rented snorkel gear at the beach. Snorkelling was very good (better than Ixtapa Island in my opinion) and it was not necessary to hire a guide. Food was good and reasonably priced. Sand was a bit coarser than La Ropa. Overall a great day trip, planning to head... More
