About
This picturesque alley is so named because it is narrow enough for two lovers to kiss from opposite sides of the street.

The background story is apocryphal while the actual site is just another quaint alley in Guanajuato. Don't go out of your way to visit this site. If you are with someone you love, kiss him ort her in any of the dozens of equally quaint alleys. In fact, do it more than once. And skip the line.

This is just one of those places you have to go to in Guanajuato. if you have a partner or very good friend, take the time to go up to the balconies for a kiss. There is usually a guide at the bottom who for a small fee will take pictures with your phone. When we went it was not crowded and he took 45 photos and a video with my phone. I've walked by on weekends, and it gets a little crowded. During the week fewer people.

We were lucky to visit when there was no group there - it can get quite crowded, and the guide will yell - literally, to be heard - the story/legend of this alley, which is quaint and tragic.
You will be charged (of course) to go up to the actual balcony, but you can stand on the red step (signifying where the blood was spilled) and get a photo for no charge.
Visit the silver store right there at the beginning of the alley for a nice selection with fair prices.

This is one of those, "if you're in __________________, you have to do it" kind of things. Kiss your honey while each stands at either side of the narrow alley. You can do that for free, although you might have to wait for other tourists to get their photos taken. Or, you can pay someone to take you up to the actual balconies from which, legend has it, young lovers reached across to kiss over the alley. Most interesting is a sign that apparently offers to provide, for a fee, a companion to kiss if you don't already have one. Apparently, the fee is higher the more intimate you want the kiss to be.

Through the streets of Guanajuato it is common to hear about the Callejon del beso, a corner where, according to legend, a young couple used to meet to kiss "from balcony to balcony".
For me this memory is very nice since I have a very nice idea of this visit since it is in the Secondary School and everything has a different perspective. It is a place that you can visit with your partner and also with your family.

Of course you must do this while in Guanajuato. We luckily had someone who could take our picture and tell us the story. We didn't feel the need to pay extra pesos to go up to the balcony. We visited on a Wednesday morning and there was only a few people there.

Took a walking tour through the city that led us here. Very picturesque and the colors and lighting are amazing! Highly recommend visiting the spot. Very popular and crowded but we only had to wait for a few minutes for our own photo op.

If you're in Guanajuato definitely find this cute alleyway. It's a narrow alley that has balconies so close together lovers could exchange kisses from them. There is a "Romeo and Julliette" type legend that takes place there. And there are little boys willing to tell the story (for a price, of course).

I had always heard of this place from my parents, they spent their honeymoon there over 30 yrs ago. This alley hideaway is magical. It was everything I had ever imagined and more. The most interesting part is how the native kids tell you the legend. They do not even stop a second to take a breath. I was so impressed with this city, we are planning to visit very soon.

Stand on the 3rd step and kiss your spouse for 7 years good luck. Don’t, and you get 10 years bad luck. True? Probably not, but it sure was fun!!

On your way out, be sure to stop by the candy shop as you reach the plaza - yummy things in there!!! I don’t dig the skulls on the store logo, but the candy is great!
