We enjoyed the peacefulness of the museum Exhacienda San Gabriel de Barrera. We were virtually the only ones there. We followed the signs for the self-guided tour and got to almost all the themed gardens (see photos). This is an arid area, and it is...More

This was a wonderful place to spend the morning. The Hacienda with its furnishings is spectacular and the gardens are even more so. We were totally surprised to be almost alone in this gorgeous place. It really does give you a clue about how the...More

As we viewed the casa, I had a very sad feeling. What a glorious place it used to be, and how badly it needs some maintenance and care now. The gardens are extensive, and impressively build, but some parts are also in need of attention....More

As we like to immerse into the culture, we took a bus to this place. We took a bus from the Basilica at Plaza de la Paz that said, among others, 'Nori Alta' & tell them to drop you off at 'Hotel Mission' which is...More

My husband and I loved the house and the grounds. We walked from the Centro and Google maps led us on a very scenic up and down route but it was worth it. The rooms were beautifully furnished and the gardens were lovely. I only...More

We walked from our Air B and B in Centro to this gorgeous place. Fourteen gardens, all connected via paths...simply lovely. We wandered outside taking it all in before touring the rooms of the house. A staff person was on hand to answer our questions...More

Nice mingling of plants, old rock walls, arches, benches, various garden designs such as Zen, Italian, and Roman. It lacks a little bit in variety and color but is a rather quiet place to be away from the hustle bustle of the city. The museum...More

Every part of the grounds and home were breathtaking and helped us understand a time that most peope can't even fathom. We were a bit disappointed that the gift shop was not open. This is a must see if visiting Guanajuato.

For the few days we have been in Guanajuato, the weather has been perfect, blue skies with a few fluffy clouds, neither too hot nor too cold. We arrived at the Hacienda Barrera a bit before ten, purchased our tickets and proceeded to tour the...More

During Festival Cervantino, the patio garden area is used as an intimate music venue. The setting is lovely and the acoustics are quite good. We saw and heard an outstanding performance by Brazilian 7-string guitarist Yamandu Costa here, and the sound was excellent. The grounds...More

My son has been twice and Carlos was there both times. We were the only visitors when I went. I want to emphasize that there is no cost for the tour and the guide is dependent on tips.

Carlos speaks excellent English. Perhaps your hotel can call for you and get the information you wish. And reserve Carlos for you.
