The Ballet Folclórico de México de Amalia Hernández is a cultural MUST on any visit to Mexico City, especially when they are dancing in Palacio de Bellas Artes. This is a world-class company of professional dancers that put their hearts and souls into their performances. The setting is spectacular; an art deco masterpiece complete with Tiffany glass curtain! If you... More

We were stuck at the airport for a 10 hour delay - so we decided to make the best of it and head into the city for the Ballet Folklorico de Mexico. We hopped a bus from the airport downtown for the show. Grabbed some tickets online and picked them up at the will call box office. The ballet was... More

I am no ballet expert but this is not what I equate to traditional ballet. There aren't a lot of people up on their tip toes. That being said, it's a really wonderful performance of different Mexican dances and music. It's sweet and fun and I imagine if you are from Mexico, it is also sentimental. We were part of... More

If you get the chance to see a performance by the Ballet Folklorico - do not miss it! We bought our tickets on Ticketmaster and it was a super simple and easy process. Once we arrived in Mexico, we went to our closest Ghandi library and picked them up at the designated Ticketmaster booth inside - absolutely no problems. The... More

We attended a performance of the Ballet Folklorico during our recent Christmas break visit. We had no problems obtaining tickets by actually going to the Palacio a day before and picking out seats for a group of 8. The tickets ranged from $600 pesos for third floor, to $880 for second floor balcony, to $1000 for ground floor seatings. Honestly,... More

It is difficult to find tickets for performances at the castle online. They are not on the regular website, you have to find them through the castle. There is a ticket office in the park. You can buy them there or online and then pick them up. Go early and be prepared to walk. They take you up to the... More

Excellent music, magnificent costumes, nice choreography. However I advise to book the front seats for a closer view

I really enjoyed this show. The dancers had beautiful costumes on and were wonderful and engaging - very talented people. A little warning for those who choose to sit on the top floor (cheap seats) - the theatre is very vertical... so if you're not a fan of heights, you will want to buy seats on a lower level and... Our wonderful tour agent Margarita at Monopolis tours at our hotel got us orchestra seats in the perfect spot. The show is very entertaining. What amazed me most was all the music and all the singing is live. The mariachi musicians are on stage or visible the theater the whole show. Costumes are beautiful and colorful and the dancers are... More

A beautiful performance in a beautiful building. We attended at the Belles Artes although they also the perform at Chapultepec Castle. The performance is beautifully choreographed and performed.

Staying in Alameda

Neighbourhood Profile
Alameda
This beautiful park was once the playground for the wealthiest families in the colonial era, and is now the perfect place where locals and visitors can spend a sunny weekend afternoon to relax or shop for souvenirs at the market. Kids can run around or grab a bite of cotton candy while teens and adults wander around admiring the charming gardens and the sculptures that adorn it. Once the heat rises, it may be time to visit one of the many cozy restaurants or cafés with its characteristic art nouveau facades to cool down and call it a day.
