- Pelligrino58 contributionsHighly recommend This Neighborhood.Just had a few hours to kill and this area was the meeting point for a taco tour. Thoroughly enjoyed walking around the area. Tons of gays, couples with dogs, bicylists, runners, street musicians all enjoying the gorgeous central park and walkways. Each neighborhood was enjoyable, lots of shops and restaurants.Visited January 2024Travelled soloWritten 25 January 2024
- TOURtheWORLDMexPalUnited States3,098 contributionsVery nice, clean and safe NeighborhoodThis area is considered one of the best in CDMX, for living and for staying as tourists. It is the new old, has the character of both. I walked through its streets… yes, nice and clean, but what else! I stayed for 7 nights at Planco…. I like Polanco way better, more prestigious and closer to all the high-end restaurants and shopping centers, and of course the better hotels. The only part of Condesa I was interested in was the section “The Park” where they filmed “Man on Fire” for Denzel Washington. I included some photos of that area.Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 26 April 2024

We also appreciate the beautiful parks scattered throughout Condesa. Great for first time visitors. The area is safe, very easy going and easy to get to other places in CDMX.Visited September 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 8 September 2024

By far one of the most charming, hip, cosmopolitan colonias in CDMX. So much like Europe, but better! The street life of Condesa is incomparable, especially in a city not known for being pedestrian-friendly. WARNING: You may fall in love with this part of the city.

Once we tired of rushing off on tours of the more touristy places in the city, my daughter said that the best walking area was in the Condesa on the Amsterdam Loop. It used to be a racetrack, but is now an upscale neighborhood. The walking path follows the same route the track once did. It is a mile around it so you can decide how far you want to exercise. On each side are lots of shops and cafes and restaurants. So you have many choices to have a coffee or snack or meal.

La Condesa neighborhood, Mexico City: before we decided to visit Mexico City we did a fair amount of research on where we would like to stay. We chose La Condesa neighborhood and it didn’t disappoint. La Condesa is beautiful to look at with its tree-lined streets and parks, Art Deco architecture, trendy bars, restaurants and cafes. At the heart of Condesa is Parque Mexico (a short walk around the corner from our apartment) which we visit often. We noticed in all of our travels so far that Mexico City, at least the part we’ve seen, is very dog friendly. In Mexico City (unlike Paris) the dog owners are very responsible and it’s rare to find any trace of dog poop 💩.

This neighborhood is popular for a reason. The trees and design of the streets is well worth the visit. To be fair, this area is more “trendy “ and therefore the prices here reflect that, so expect to pay more for everything. We loved walking around Amsterdam Avenue and then enjoying both España Parque and Parque México.

Such an amazing neighborhood. We are finishing a monthlong trip and of our multiple visits to Mexico City, this is definitely the most pleasant neighborhood. Very Greenwich village feel to it, with small shops, restaurants and a few coffee shops and bars scattered throughout. Avenida Amsterdam as well as both Parque España and Parque México are beautiful. Suffered some earthquake damage in 2017 but new modern buildings are popping up. Cannot wait to come back!

We walked around this neighborhood and visited the Parque Mexico's Audiorama and Tomasa Condesa. There are a lot of places to eat in this neighborhood. Feels perfectly safe to walk around and enjoy some people watching.

Condessa is the place to stay in my opinion. It’s very close to Chapultepec Park, we walked. Condessa felt safe has pretty tree lined streets always kept clean. We stayed for a week in a high rise condo. There are many good restaurants and bars around within walking distance and it’s handy enough to catch Ubers to other sites of interest. It’s about 25 minutes from the airport and around $200-$250pesos.

I go to Mexico city for business on a regular bases. I have stopped staying in hotel but rent a apartment in La Condesa area. It is a safe and green area with lots of cosy nice restaurants and cafe for breakfast, lunch, coffee or dinner. Highly recommend to stay in this area.

Hi. How far and expensive to visit historical sights from this area?
Written 28 April 2019
Not expensive at all, I recommend to go during weekdays since weekend is pretty busy and can be explicit and expensive depending where you go!

Hi Eleniux! I have a reservation to stay in La Condessa area. Do you think I should choose other hotel in a different area? I'm travelling with my wife and my 4 year old daughter.

The Condesa is a great place top stay. It is the home of many artists and more of a bohemian feel. Lots of parks, great restaurants central to many tourist attractions. I always feel safe there.

Recomendaciones de restaurantes
Written 14 September 2016
