I am not sure how to even start. From the beginning, we experienced many problems with this tour company. We were told at the ticket office that the tour would be in both English and Spanish, only to find that our guide spoke no English. We left about 45 minutes later than expected and then about mid way through our tour, our bus broke down. We ended up at the side of the road for about an hour until another tour company agreed to take a few of us to the next stop in our tour, the Hierve waterfall and pools. We tried to contact El Andador via phone (they hung up on us) and by email (they never responded). In the end, the rest of our original group showed up to the falls many hours later in a smaller bus, with no room to take us back to Oaxaca. Thankfully, after hearing our desperate pleas, the other tour company guide finally agreed to take us back to Oaxaca. We weren’t quite sure how we would get back as our Spanish speaking guide at El Andador seemed to have no plan to help us. We join many other reviewers here to encourage others to go see the wonderful sights outside of Oaxaca (eg the 2000 year old Tule tree, the very talented weavers, and the Hierve el Agua calcified waterfall and pools) but definitely to use another tour company.

I'm sorry to say this, but my mom and I had a very bad experience with this company, including our interaction with the disrespectful manager named Vicky. We travel a lot and had not experienced such disorganization or disrespect.
We took a total of 3 tours: the city 1 hour tour bus, the all day tour to Monte Albán, and second city tour to Jalatlaco on a different type of bus.
The only reason I am giving this a 2 out of 5 is the employees, in my case Pepe, the drivers, and 2 out of 3 of the tour guides who are the reason why this experience was not a 0 or 1.
As Pepe approached us on the streets to recruit us, he was very welcoming and informative. He then walked us to the main office so we could pay for the 1 hour red bus tour and the Monte Alban tour. My mom and I had never visited Oaxaca and we are very curious individuals, so we were asking questions, which Pepe was answering for us in the office, but then Vicky rudely intervened and spoke down to my mom and I who were conducting our entire visit in Spanish (we are Mexican/American).
We then went to the bus. This was chaotic. They made people who were already sitting on one bus move to another bus to give us more space (which we did not need). People lost their spots, some people pushed and shoved to secure spots on the top of the bus. This tour was sold to us as making two stops, but given the disorganization and the reloading, we took off 15 minutes late, and did not have the second stop we were promised. The tour guide and driver did a great job once we took off.
Two days later we took the Monte Albán tour. We were picked up 50 minutes after the time we were told. Our hotel felt bad for us and called El Andador on our behalf to inquire about the pick up and their response was that they had already communicated with us that they were running late, which they never did. Our hotel told us that they used to work with this company, but that given that the quality of service had gone down, they stopped recommending them. My mom has a handicap card and requires to sit in the front of the bus. When we inquired about this days before this trip, again Vicky, the person in charge, did not acknowledge my mom or her handicap credential. Then told us not to worry because the drives are short, but she's not a doctor. The insensitivity to my mom's medical needs left another bad taste. As we were in this tour, there was a family from the Netherlands who had been promised a guide who also spoke English. This was their second trip with the company, and for the second time, the English bilingual guide did not show up. They were lied to twice and left the tour one hour into it very disappointed. Also, our guide did not show up until after we left Monte Albán and I heard from other tourists on the bus, that this was common with this company.
The third bus ride to Jalatlaco was the better of the three. The guide, Angel was great and the driver was excellent
If you require any special medical attention or a guide in Engish, again, this is not the company for you. Take your money elsewhere unless you want to risk the disorganization and disrespect. I did not like witnessing Vicky disrespecting her employees or my mom. My mom and I had a better experience with Oaxaca Dreams Travel and Tours and with Herrera Oaxaca Tours (ask for Pepe).
Oaxaca is a beautiful place and you don't want to let a company get in the way on how you experience your tours. I'm a Professor who travels a lot so I invested time on this review to make sure no one else has this experience. I hope you find it useful.
I will never book tours with this company again.

We had a blast visiting Monte Alban, our driver Marco and guide Edelmira were just amazing. They were very informative as we go and visits the different pueblos around Oaxaca. We felt very knowledgeable when we arrive in each town in terms of their products and specialties. We admire very much Edelmira's way of telling the stories about Monte Alban and the beautiful pueblos. Both in English and Spanish, it seems like you are being transported at the time when Monte Alban is at its glory. The people in the talleres we went to are very friendly and helpful also. The ride was very comfortable and safe. It was a day well spent overall. We would do this trip and try other day trips that they offer next time.

Our hotel arranged a day tour with El Andador to Monte Albán and then to the villages to see where they make black pottery and alebrijes. Our guide, Ede, was very knowledgeable and very fluent in Spanish and English. The tour lasted about 9 hours and cost only 250 pesos (plus cost of admission to sites and lunch). We enjoyed our tour, but would have preferred it is was just in one language instead of both Spanish and English. A lot of time was spent going back and forth between both languages and you didn’t know when the English portion was going to start so we would miss some info. However, Ede managed this very well - this is not a criticism of her (as she was excellent), just a personal preference.

Really great day long adventure starting with Monte Alban. Eve the guide has fluent English and Zach the driver, quite the host. You cannot do this on your own as easily, cheaply or entertained as going with Andador and these two great people.

On my way to the tour office, I tripped and fell on uneven sidewalk. There was some bruising and blood, but not enough for me to skip the tour. When I arrived at the office, Edelmira took one look at me and fetched a bottle of antiseptic and some bandages. Throughout the day, she made sure I was ok. She refreshed my bandage and helped me get down the steep steps at Monte Alban. She also looked out for the other tour participants, making sure everyone was comfortable and cared for. Her excellent English made the tour much more rewarding than it would have been otherwise. She was positive and upbeat throughout a long and somewhat tiring day.
I also want to recognize Eleazar, our ever-patient and professional bus driver, and Patty, who found me in the park studying a map and told me about El Andador. She walked me to the office, explained the various tours, and made sure I was signed up for the right ones. She's an excellent sales person.
Finally, the price was reasonable. This is an excellent company.

I am giving this review 5 stars, but only because of the excellent guide we had today. Griselda was everything you could hope for in a guide: extremely knowledgeable, passionate about her country's history and culture, a great sense of humour. She made the trip to Monte Alban very special and if you can ask for a guide when you book your tour, I recommend you ask for Griselda. The tour itself was fabulous and all places we visited were worthwhile and of interest.
We went with the same company yesterday, however, to Hierve el Agua, and had a very different experience. Although due to start at 9.30am, when we arrived there were a number of tour employees running around giving us different information. Each time we asked someone, we got a different answer to the coach/minibus we were leaving in, driving us mad, and making us angry. All the transport left, leaving us behind. Eventually, we were taken to the bus in a VW Beetle - the coach we could have got on in the beginning. Terrible organisation. The tour itself was lacklustre and we visited 5 places - three of which the main reason for going was to sell us stuff. To top it all, instead of getting back to the city at 18.30 as planned we arrived back at 21:30! 3 hours later than advertised. Disgraceful.

The guide on this tour was excellent. She gave explanations in both English and Spanish. She included the museum at Monte Alban. I've had 2 other tours of Monte Alban that did not include the museum. The driver and vehicle provided a comfortable and safe trip. Andador informed us of the vehicle type, name of the driver and guide in a reminder of the time the evening prior to the tour, This was a very positive experience with Andador.

After reading the negative reviews we were a little hesitant to book with Andador, but on re-reading we realized most of the negative reviews were of group bus tours. We wanted to book a private car with a driver and guide for the four of us, and it was very reasonably priced. We paid about $110 in total for an eight hour day of touring to Mitla, saw the rug weaving demo, stopped at a mescal factory and our guide Eloy took us to a wonderful buffet lunch place, also reasonably priced at $7.50 US. Be aware that you'll be charged entrance fees at most of the attraction but they are minimal - from 10 to 75 pesos. I'd recommend hiring your own car and driver in order to customize your tour, and Eloy spoke very good English - he was a fun and interesting guide.
