Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Don't bother to visit unless you are into modern art kind of art. The place is small and the exhibitions are few. We spent maybe 45 min there and I left feeling very unpleasant. Maybe I just don't appreciate those art.
Admission fee is 50 peso. Not worth it in my opinion.

We visited the Museo de Arte Contemporaneo de Oaxaca (MACO) during a recent trip to Oaxaca. The permanent collection is amazing and they had a very nice rotating exhibit. If you're in Oaxaca definitely don't miss taking some time to see this museum!

Oaxaca has many great galleries, museums and art places. But this one was special. Modern, funky, engaging, sets itself apart from so many others that I visited. Each gallery and place was wonderful and had it's own style, just as this one did.
The collections are beautifully displayed and the building itself captures the imagination.
With everything old and new juxtaposed I felt blessed to be travelling in this amazing part of Mexico.
Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. A must visit.

MACO is a refreshing, dynamic antidote to the endless offerings of ethnographic art and antiquities on display elsewhere in Oaxaca. Housed in a beautifully converted former hacienda, the museum specializes in provocative, large-scale installations. The rotating exhibitions provide a fascinating snapshot into trends in contemporary Latin American art. It's definitely worth looking in to see what's on display.

I don't know if it's part of their regular collection, but this museum had some really disturbing pieces of "art" on display. I am pretty open minded and just thought it was funny, but if you're traveling with kids, you might want to check into what they're showing before you go in.

The space was beautifully designed for several shows....all showcasing the amazing talents in this region. A must-see. Also a great gift shop to bring some original designs home.

This was a small museum, but I feel a necessary one to visit. It is always interesting to see how the ancient art has an influence up to the modern visions. And I think the traveler always needs to experience in a sensual and visual way the emotions of the painful parts of this people's history. We need to see the injustice so we remain vigilant to try and evolve beyond this.

Very small with some interesting work but not particularly extensive. Good for a 30 minute short drop in.

I was a bit disappointed since there was only one artist featured. He was pretty good but i wanted to see a variety.

Even if modern art isn't your thing, this building has hidden treasures such as the trees in the back space, the view of Alcala from the upper windows. The current exhibit, which pairs urban artists with local craftspeople is inspiring.
