I attended Mass in this sparkling clean and well-lit lovely little church one afternoon. The accoustics were so good that i was able to both hear and understand the sermon - about narcotraficantes - perfectly, a first for me and my self-taught Spanish!

A couple of blocks from Cortes home. First church built in Veracruz. Very small and not a lot to see inside.

This is a special and lovely little church with good views of the original material. A very significant cultural icon representing a huge cultural shift. The setting is beautiful as well.

This is the site of the first catholic church built in the Americas, hence it deserves being a landmark. La Antigua itself was historic in that it was the place where Hernan Cortes had built the first military headquarters in Mexico.

This place is very old. The walls are built with bricks and coral blocks. Definitely one place to visit.

Another piece of the puzzle of the Cortez Conquest of Mexico. This small chapel is still standing and operational, with well preserved furniture and religious artifacts.

This chapel is very worth seeing. Specially if you include it on a trip to Antigua. This beautiful chapel was the first one in Latin America inland. The chapel has the Catholic stations at the atrium. Complement your visit with the first House of Cortes...More
