    Jump
We went to Cenote Il Kil after visiting Chichen Itza on a sweltering day and I will never forget the most refreshing jump from the roughly 4,5 meters platform into the cenote. Truly magical. All other visitors were glowing and smiling, the place has a such a positive vibe. Just keep in mind that you need to go down 91 stone steps to arrive at the sinkhole and then up again, and the steps were wet and a bit slippery. Life vests and lockers are included in the entrance fee.

    Amazing experience
It was fun to jump down from the high stairs and go down from the top. Please come after going to Chichen Itza. The best time is right before noon before there are a bunch of tourists coming from Chichen Itza. The staff are really nice but please note there are catfish. You can also NOT bring towels inside the cenote and you will have to leave them in your locker. The stairs are also slippery so, slowly walk down and don't slip.

    beautiful cenote worth going
beautiful cenote and well managed. not the cheapest cenote around but worth it. didn’t get any advance tickets, just drove in, parked and bought tickets early in the morning. very little people in the morning. water is a little cold in jan but no problem getting used to it. it’s as beautiful as pictures shows. big pool and a lot of people can swim in it at once without feeling crowded. like that you can jump off a platform! it’s fun. can be a tad painful when u hit the water though. genially pasir out with your trip to chichen itza.

Spectacular cenote - but arrive early morning or late afternoon to avoid the crowds
Absolutely beautiful cenote and a fantastic experience! Went for a swim after a hot morning at Chichén Itzá and thoroughly enjoyed it. Long vines hang down from the top of the cenote - the place looks unreal & is spectacular! It's deep and you need to wear a life jacket while swimming. It's well sign posted, has lockers, changing facilities, toilets, showers and life jackets. There are places to grab lunch / snacks too (didn't stop here for lunch so can't comment). It did get very crowded, however, which detracted from the experience. In hindsight we should probably have come early on a different day & gone to a different cenote after Chichén Itzá. As a couple, we were only given one locker, and it was very hard to squeeze everything in. Absolutely worth a visit to this magical cenote, but come early in the morning or late afternoon.

Good Way to Cool Off after Chichen Itza
Yes there are a lot of people but we were hot after visiting Chichen Itza and this was a perfect place to cool off. The cenote is cold. After an hour, my body was cold to the touch, so mission accomplished. The lockers were small for our family of 5 and they would only give us one which I didn’t understand since they gave single people a whole locker? Sure I could rent a second locker for twenty pesos more but we managed. The food at the snack bar was average food but service was fast and tacos, club sandwich, and hamburger were good. Yes you have to wear a life jacket, but I was ok with that because I couldn’t see the bottom. The catfish were neat to see swimming with us. My teen boys loved jumping off the two platforms. A lifeguard helped keep people from jumping on top of each other. One thing to be careful of are the stone steps down into the cenote. They’re incredibly slippery and you aren’t allowed to wear any shoes on them. Hold onto the rail. I saw more than one person slip and have to catch themselves. Going down is more slippery than going up.

Avoide the crowed for a great experience
This Cinote is probably the most photographed and thus the most popular. The main con is the crowd nevertheless because of its popularity the services are meticulous - lockers, showers, life vest. Everything is very comercialized but clean and organized. The solution: comr early, or late. I was ther at 4pm an hour before closing and there weren't many people. Laying on your back in the water looking up to the perfect circle opening, one can understand why the Mayan saw the cinotes as the source of life given by the gods. Cost: $14 us / $11 CDN. Cash only. Enjoy the swim and the spiritual experience.

    Jungle pool
Wow, Cenote Ik Kil was amazing! It's a beautiful natural sinkhole with crystal-clear water. Jumping in was thrilling, and the vines hanging down added a cool jungle vibe. Great spot for a refreshing swim!

Absolutely beautiful and serene, but go early
This was absolutely beautiful. We got to enjoy it was almost nobody there. We went on a Monday, arriving at about 10:00a, and there was only one other couple there with us. It was so enjoyable to float around this beautiful place in the serenity of almost nobody being there. I would not want to be there with a crowd, like the one coming in when we left just an hour later. There is a jumping platform that is probably 12 and 15 feet high. Life jackets were required. At this one, it's not bad. We mostly enjoyed floating around. You are not allowed to leave anything around the cenote, so leave it in your vehicle or use the lockers. They have staff all around making sure the rules are kept - taking a shower, not leaving anything on the ground, wearing a life vest.

A Natural Wonder of the Yucatán Peninsula
One of the most stunning and well-known cenotes in the Yucatán Peninsula, located just a short drive from Chichén Itzá. It's a breathtaking experience with its lush surroundings, clear waters, and historical significance. The cenote is part of a larger eco-park that includes well-maintained facilities, including restrooms, changing areas, and a restaurant. To avoid large crowds, consider visiting early in the morning or later in the afternoon. The cenote can become quite busy, especially during peak tourist seasons.

Natural swimming pool with a splash!
Cenote Ik Kil is like swimming in Mother Nature’s own pool! The setting is magical with vines hanging into the water and fish swimming around you. It’s an experience you won’t want to miss, especially on a hot day. The cenote can be crowded, but it’s large enough that you’ll still find space to swim. Don’t forget your waterproof camera, or this one will stay in your memories only!

It’s a nice Cenote to take a dip or a dive in. Well organised with lockers, showers, cafes etc. Life jackets available for 30 pesos and locker for 30 pesos. You can bring your bag down to the side of the cenote though. Admission is 80 pesos. We stayed across the road in hotel called Dolores Alba Chichen, so we walked over to Cenote at 4pm. Most of the tour buses were gone or going. It was still busy but I can only imagine it must be really crowded during the day. As a side note there are so many Cenotes to visit. We went to Yaxunah and to Yokdzonot cenotes in same day. Yaxunah is a small, no frills cenote. Absolutely beautiful!! There’s a metal ladder to climb down and a rope to pull yourself back up. It’s more primitive in facilities and the village hasn’t much going on.. but it’s so pretty and the roots handing down from the trees are stunning. There are life jackets too if needed and it’s costs 50 pesos to enter. No car park fee. Yokdzonot has a little more going on with a zip line and rappel... didn’t see it in operation and I don’t think it’s intrusive. There’s toilets, showers, restaurant and shop, life jackets are mandatory. It’s very nice and not crowded. The employees are lovely and friendly. So many cenotes... so little time, I would stay away from IL-Kil if you have a choice and pick a lesser known cenote. I have added photos of Yaxunah, Yokdzonot and lastly Il-kil in that order.

I’ve been to a cenote before, years ago...it was beautiful. However this place we were brought to after a Chicen Itza tour to swim in a Cenote. As soon as we got here the place seemed like a hostel with a bunch of high Tourists listening to some kind of trance rave music the whole time, felt like the same song for the hour our bus was there. None of the washrooms had a toilet seat. Place is right next to a dump, all the tables around the pool had dark black nets around them due to the bats we were told. Then we go to check out the Cenote to take a swim which I was very hesitant about at this point...this was the most commercialized Cenote to the point it’s barely “natural” anymore with the guard rails, concrete steps, dungeon feel, and FAKE waterfall they added for the gullible tourists. There are many more cenotes to check out that are natural and aren’t by this dump leaching money from tourism. Such a shame!

This is a hole in the ground with water. The water is cold because the sun light doesn't hit the water because it is sheltered in a cave/hole. There are signs every where saying swim at your own risk, but they make you wear a life jacket the whole time you are in the cenote. So if I'm swimming at my own risk shouldn't I be able to make that decision? Nope... I tried to remove my jacket and got yelled at. I'm an adult man... not a diaper filled baby. The water is perfectly calm and still. Lastly, the pricing is why too much for visiting a toilet bowl in the ground. I've been to several cenotes and the water is warm and you get to bask in the sun... not here. They make you walk through shops and vendors to and from the cenote kind of felt like a tourist trap. I'd recommend you go somewhere in the sun and less of a commercial enterprise. Oh and one last thing they have a guy in the parking lot writing down license plate numbers when there are six cars in the parking lot during COVID times.

Chichen Itza with Jose
Before leaving the hotel, I downloaded the app from Action Tour Guide. Jose picked us up at 7:00 and we grabbed a bite for the road, heading towards Chichen Itza. There was a small line to enter, $80 pesos cash and then the other could be placed on the credit card. Take a hat/umbrella if you don’t want to buy one at the entrance. We wore flip flops and it was no problem. I really enjoyed that app and have used many others for tours in the past. It allowed me to visit the ruins at my own pace and see the things that interested me.

We didn’t stay long at Chichen Itza as we were eager to get to the cenotes. Off to Ik kil. We arrived at the cenote and paid the entrance fee. The fee included the mandatory life jacket and locker. (Water shoes suggested). The water was so cold but we quickly adapted to it. Everyone was having a blast jumping off the ledge and the employee monitoring was even having fun. Once the tour buses arrived, it got very crowded. We then headed back to Cancun, needed to be back for our COVID test at 3:30 to be able to fly home. On the way back we stopped at a nice little restaurant and ordered food to go. Unfortunately the traffics was bad and we didn’t get back until 3:45. Overall, Jose was great. If doing it again I would insist on leaving at 6:00 am.

Stopped here as part of a tour to Chichen Itza. Very beautiful. Yes it was busy but everyone had a chance to jump from one of the multi-level platforms that wanted to. The fresh water was very refreshing after the 90+ steps down into the cenote. A watch out for the steps becoming very slippery as they get wet. Lockers and Life jackets are available for a small price(30$). We all enjoyed the buffet lunch that was included in our package. There is also a small pyramid to visit a short walk up one of the paths just after you enter the park.

The cenote itself is beautiful but very full of people swimming. You can enjoy other cenotes nearby just by yourself if you arrive early. But the facilities are one of the best we found in this region of Mexico. Place well taken care of. Very fair price for the lunch in the restaurant inside. We paid MX$150 for visiting the cenote + MX$200 for a nice lunch menu with salad, 5 choices of main course, a small dessert and one beverage (we chose one beer). Very fair price and very nice service, with no one asking you for tips, which is something very annoying in Mexico (everywhere you go they ask you for tips).

We had seen so many cenotes but this one really took the cake! It was 80 pesos which was 20 less than most others.
More importantly they have clean changing areas and make it easy to go in the water. You can even leap in from a couple of slightly high spots.

There’s long vines draping down from the top that make it quite mysterious. It’s huge so many people can swim at the same time.

Be aware that the water is quite cold. 73-75 degrees Fahrenheit. That’s COLD for swimming!

Have fun swimming or just watching.

Very well organised with a lot of changing rooms.
The water is very very cold as the cenote is very deep.
Fortunately there are ropes put on the water surface so if someone is in trouble they can hold onto that.
There are long queues for people who want to jump in.
The cenote looks great as it's nice round shape and very deep, plus there are a lot of roots hanging down which make nice curtain around it.

Actually this cenote is like a swimming pool. You will find a restaurant, a snack bar, a gift shop, a change room and lockers. Entrance fee is 150 Pesos (Dec 2021) which included the life jacket and the locker.
Starting latest at 10:00 a.m. buses will arrive and the place will continue to be packed until 03:30 p.m. Arrive at opening 09:00 a.m. to avoid the crowd and enjoy the beauty of Ik Kil.
