I had a wonderful time with Eco Divers! I hadn't dived in 4 years and so did a quick refresher with Aris before spending 4 great days diving. Their service was wonderful, from picking me up on the way to setting up my gear. All the dives were as long as they could be, with one divemaster taking the people up who had used up their air leaving the rest of us to stay down longer with the other divemaster. And then between dives, delicious fruit and cookies, which were so welcome! Drift dives, swim-throughs, octopus, turtles, eagle ray, barracuda, eels, nurse sharks, colorful fish galore and lovely coral! I will be back again and I will dive with Eco Divers!

My friend and have been diving with Eco Divers Cozumel for many years. Even though we couldn't dive our entire stay due to high winds, our dives were safe and the crew fun and professional. They nicely cater and adapt to a range of experience in divers on the same dive. That said, stuff happens that is unforeseen (like my dive last March with them and not their fault), but they do their best. We've used other dive shops in CZM before Eco Divers and have found Eco Divers to be very accommodating and a nice experience overall.

have done approximately 500 of my 1600 dives with Eco Divers in the past ten or twelve years. I have dived with many other shops in Cozumel over the past thirty years.i like small.shops that try to cater to each divers skills and experience. Eco Divers is more successful at balancing the needs of their many loyal advanced divers with new divers. Kristen and Jorge run an honest operation with two small fast boats. Their guides include Aris and Eric full time and several others they trained over the years who free lance with several shops including Eco Diversthecquiet captain, Renato is a master captain who maneuvers the boat accurately and safely during pick up at the end of the dive. I am a loyal customer because I have always felt safe and now feel like I am visiting my second family. A comment on a few other reviews. The divemaster chief function is to keep his group safe. Second to guide the dive. This is the sea, not an aquarium. The turtle or use shark does not stay in the same place all the time. One day you .ight see several turtles, eagle rays and nurse sharks on one dive, go back the next day and see. None of the rockstars of Cozumel. For inexperienced or nervous di ers I recommend the refresher class before you go out for the main dives so you can relearn how to equalize and use your equipment. I recommend Eco Divers without reservation.

Awful scuba shop filled with old, worn out gear and overworked employees.
During my husband’s first ever night dive his flashlight died after entering the water. The backup flashlight was dead too.
The next morning when I went out my air tank wasn’t switched between dives. Luckily, I noticed a few minutes into the dive. I do acknowledge that I should have checked before I got into the water but this is still a standard thing for the Divemaster to do between dives. We were 8 divers to one dive master that day. Most other dive shops in Cozumel guarantee 4/1 ratio, as it should be.
On my third day of diving, about 40 minutes into the dive my air gage went from 1200psi to empty in one breath. Not sure if this was a faulty gage or blown o-ring (no sudden surge of air though) I had to rush to swim over to my Divemaster, who was not close by and grab his second stage to complete a safety stop and surface.
There was no acknowledgment of what happened in any of these instances, no apology or anything at all. I felt completely unsafe and would never put my life in their hands again.
Their vehicles both broke down over two days of diving with them. The gear is all old, worn out and has holes.
Other divers told me that they had been asked to pay for their month of dives upfront so the dive shop could pay for some repairs. Doesn’t seem they did that.
Divers in my group, who I spent these three days with told me of times earlier that week when half the group was out of air and were all sharing with the others to get the full hour dive in.
The dive master I was with every day, named Ari was incredibly unfriendly and just seemed exhausted. He was guiding morning and afternoon dives every day. He couldn’t be bothered to point out anything we passed during the dives. Luckily I was with other divers who had tons of experience and pointed out hidden marine life I would have otherwise missed.
We are really upset that we spent over $500 diving with them and didn’t have even one dive that went 100% as it should. I would absolutely NOT recommend them, even if they were the last shop in Cozumel.

Hello Andrea! Firstly, I want to thank you for taking your time to write a lengthy and thorough review. It's only with client feedback that we are able to improve our services and to ensure safe, fun dive trips. Since we are a small "mom and pop" shop, we heavily rely on returning clients so we aim to provide the best experience possible. I am sorry that you do not feel that you had a great experience. I want to be sure I am just as thorough responding to your complaints. Before I go into those details, I just want to express that I am quite surprised by your review. When Jorge, the owner of the shop, asked you each day how your dive was you responded, "Great!" so we were unaware that you were so angry about your experience. Had issues been brought to our attention during your trip, we would've gladly worked out a solution or offered a refund and welcomed you to find a different dive shop.
According to your Divemaster your husband's light never went off (only during the few minutes while doing the bioluminescence) and he was never without a working flashlight. Lights are always checked before each night dive. As for your tank, yes, you are correct, each diver is responsible for checking their own gear before entering the water. While the Divemaster is there to assist you, we apologize that it was overlooked. In the water, the DM assisted you when you had your problem, resolved the situation properly and you were able to continue the dive. We do guarantee a 1:4 ratio, you probably weren't aware that two of the divers in your group were Divemasters. While they do not work for us, they assist us when necessary (they have been diving with us for 30 years). I apologize about the vehicles, and any inconvenience or delays that caused during your trip. We buy new equipment every year because it is rental gear and it gets worn due to lots of use. Our equipment is regularly cleaned and inspected, and anything deemed too worn is removed. If you are concerned about equipment, some divers prefer to bring their own and we always welcome that. I find it quite inappropriate that you decided to mention finances, especially when you are not aware of the full situation. We had to unexpectedly buy a new engine during our low season and to make sure we could still operate, some of our kind, loyal clients offered to pay for their dives in advance to ensure we'd be up and running when they visited us. There are times where our guides will do two trips a day, especially during high season. This is compliant with local regulations and we make sure that our guides get the time off and breaks that they deserve! It's great that the other divers in your group (the "unofficial" Divemasters) were so knowledgeable and you all seemed to get pretty lucky! Again, we find it helpful when divers who are with us for multiple days give us feedback in real time. If you had expressed that you were looking for your guide to point out more marine life, that's something that could have been corrected after day 1. Some divers even let us know specific things they are looking for so our guides can be on the lookout. Andrea, I want to express again how sorry we are that you were disappointed with your Eco Divers experience and that we weren't able to rectify the situation during your time on Cozumel. We hope that even with these issues, you were able to enjoy your vacation. Any and all feedback is always appreciated so thank you again for taking the time to do so and don't hesitate to reach out if you have any other questions or comments. Thank you again and we wish you the best in your future endeavors!

Well-prepared, good times always. After 10+ years diving in coz, this is the best company. They consistently have amazing staff and take care of you. Small groups and focused on diving (that’s why we’re all here!). They respect their island and teach tourists how to be responsible, too.

Eric and crew were attentive and friendly. I traveled with some friends and felt safe and taken care of! I enjoyed the mango and snacks during surface intervals as well. The diving was amazing! I will be back🐠🏝️

Small Boats with anywhere from 4 to 8 divers. Have tried other operators in Cozumel and Eco Divers is the best. Great dive masters and the owners actually go out and lead dive trips from time to time. Something you don't see a lot from dive operators.
In the 7 days we dove with them, 4 of the days had repeat customers from previous dive trips. One guy had been diving with them for 15 years. This is a true testimony to their customer service. You can add us to that group every time we come to Cozumel we will be diving with Eco Divers.

We first started diving with Eco Divers in 2018, when we came down to Cozumel to get certified. We've been down four times since and only dive with them. They are wonderful guides - we've seen most of the aquatic life you can see in Cozumel with them. The groups are always small and the guides are always careful and attentive with all of the Divers, regardless. Of their experience levels.
More than anything else, though, it's the family experience they make possible that keeps us coming back. In the 28 dives I've done with them, my two kids have always been on the boat with us. My daughter was 9 months old the first time we went out. By the time she was two and my son was four, a divemaster/babysitter was teaching them how to snorkel while we were diving. Every time we get out of the water, they've got something new they've learned about the ocean that they're excited to tell us about something they've learned, from details about fish to the importance of conservation efforts (Carolina, their favorite divemaster, is doing a masters in marine biology and never tries to talk down to them).
This year, we came down with my in laws and we took them on their first night dives. The guides went above and beyond to take care of them and make them feel comfortable. We'll always keep coming back because of the special efforts everyone at Eco Divers make to take care of us.
