- David LManchester, Tennessee10 contributionsHad a great time in CozumelThe games were fun and the operators were great. The puzzles were challenging but not too difficult. We got to see a lot of the city an enjoy places less visited. The only criticism I have is that at the end we were driven about 2 miles away for lunch and we had to either walk back or take a cab. After seeing all the area had to offer, I would have liked to stay in the area and shop and eat. I expected to end the game close to where we started but we’re several miles away. The food was excellent and the restaurant was lovely. Overall a great experience. Would highly recommend.Visited November 2023Written 24 November 2023
- heidimm991 contributionAmazing Amazing Cozumel RaceThis was a really fun activity. Not too physically strenuous. Fun puzzles. Good way to see the town and visit some local businesses. We visited on a windy day so we didn't get too hot. A warmer day might have been more difficult but hats and suncreen are always a good idea. Bring water. Beverage supplied at restaurant at finish line, snacks available for purchase. Transportation was provided back to our cruise ship which was very convenient.Visited December 2023Written 19 January 2024
- Charles SWest Sacramento, California22 contributionsAmazing Cozumel Race - AmazingJan 24, 2024. I'm disappointed that I can only give this 5 stars, because it's an 11. We haven't done this kind of excursion before, but we have always loved watching The Amazing Race, doing all kinds of puzzles, and escape rooms. This is pretty much like the show. You run around Cozumel completing puzzles to get answers to the clue to your next destination. We race with our 12 and 18 year old sons. The host of the race, Patty, Martin, Ada, and 2 others I didn't get their names, but they were all great. If you're doing this from a cruise ship, I recommend opting for the internet package on board, and install Whatsapp. Our meeting location changed, and they were able to update me via Whatsapp. I heard there was a group that didn't get the message and were late to the race. Our final location was a restaurant where the hosts had our award ceremony. It was such a great time, we're going to look for more activities like this in the future.Visited January 2024Travelled with familyWritten 24 January 2024
- 2024kmVista, California1 contributionSo much fun!Very well organized and lots of fun, a great team building activity for our group! The entire event took about 2.5 hours and gave us the opportunity to learn a little history during our brief stop in Cozumel. The organizers were right there when we needed them throughout the event!Visited January 2024Written 18 February 2024
- upsbryan1 contributionGreat fun!It was our first time to do this excursion and it was so much fun! It was very well organized and allowed us to see more of Cozumel than the regular tourist spots. Everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful!! We will definitely do this again and recommend it to anyone that is looking for a bit of a challenge and some fun.Visited February 2024Written 8 March 2024
- Lisa46 contributionsFun ExperienceWe had a great time. The staff worked hard to make sure we always felt safe and were having fun. We had a good map, good instructions and a cell phone that made it easy to call for help if we should need it. We did not "win" but we didn't care. The teen with us thought it was super.Visited February 2024Travelled with familyWritten 19 April 2024

We are a family of four with two teens. We did not know quite what to expect, but were huge fans of the show. Our hosts Patty and Martin were high energy and set the bar!! The clues were unique, challenging and did a wonderful job of incorporating the local art and historical aspects of the area. You are supplied with a map and all the tools you will need to be successful. Tennis shoes and team work are a must. It was not a long excursion, about 3 hours total. We were still able to take a taxi to a local beach for about 6 hours for snorkeling, lunch and drinks! If you are looking for something different to do with your group, this is it! Running is not required, but when the other groups are competitive, it is hard not to get pick up the energy and get into the race.

What fun! We were traveling on the Harmony of the Seas (Royal Caribbean) and had a schedule change due to weather conditions in The Bahamas. This opened the opportunity to add The Amazing Cozumel Race tour to our itinerary. My 3-person team had a lot of fun at this well-organized and spirited event. I'd enthusiastically recommend it to anyone looking for a new adventure with a low- to moderate activity level.

The Amazing Cozumel Race is A MUST!!! It combines a lot sights to see in Cozumel into one fun event. You can either walk around the island and passively take in the sights, or you can take part in this race. You see a lot of monuments, murals, and statues that you might have ordinarily missed. Parts of the race take you into different neighborhoods. The guides are immensely helpful, and so are the locals. It is terrifically fun. 10 out 10, two thumbs up, PERFECT. I would strongly recommend it to everyone. Word to the wise; wear a good pair of walking shoes. You'll be clearing a few miles by foot.

Our family group of 4 did the race the week of Thanksgiving. The staff was very informative, helpful and friendly. We have been coming to Cozumel for 38 years and this was probably one of the most fun and entertaining things we have done there. It was a great way to see more of the town and the locals were friendly and helpful as well. I very highly recommend this activity BUT it does require some jogging and running to be competitive.

My wife and I ran this race as a cruise excursion 11 or 12 years ago before we were even married (and won). It was a story we told all the time. Not that we won but what a great experience it was. The people of Cozumel are so helpful and friendly. Just recently we were able to run it again with our 7 and 9 year olds. Not a single clue was the same and the layout was completely different (we won again).
This experience isn’t just for the competitive. There were older people doing the race who just enjoyed walking and solving puzzles and seeing Cozumel and they had just as much fun as the teams competing to win.
It is so well organized and the staff is so great I hope I get the chance to do it again one day. If you’ve done the race before and think it’s just going to be the same as last time, I asked and they said they change the race up every 8 months or so. Do it again.

We had so much fun seeing parts of beautiful Cozumel that you wouldn’t normally get to see! Our amazing leaders did a great job of explaining the rules to our group, we got a phone that only calls them if we need a hint or get lost! (Which we did!) we were able to see local cultures and learn some history while running the race. It was hot, hot, hot so bring enough water! At the end we all went to a local restaurant where we were treated with two drinks, chips and salsa while getting to know our guide and other players in the race. I would absolutely recommend doing the amazing Race, Cozumel!

The morning before this excursion, I had low expectations and was kind of dreading the event. To my surprise, the excursion was my favorite of all time (I’ve been on many via 10 cruises).
We were given a map of Cozumel, a blue book guide, a cell phone and a Mayan number translation worksheet.
The clues/riddles were challenging and super creative but my wife and I managed to get all 20+ correct and ended up winning the race!
Our Apple watches showed that we completed 5 miles. I think our advantage was that we ran to every location. To be honest I was pouring in sweat and it was a great workout! Other teams took it a little easier which was fun for them too as they got to experience Downtown Cozumel a little more thoroughly than us.
All in all, my favorite excursion of all time that was very well run by good people.
Highly recommended.

This was an shore excursion at this Port of call for cruise line. It was not booked through the cruise line. It was booked through their website. We had eight in our family and were split into two teams. On this date there was one other couple. The three representative from the company were Ana, Patty and Martin. They explained the race and how it worked. We felt safe the whole time. What was key is they made sure we did not get lost and if we did we had a phone with us. The fun part was interacting with the locals who seem to have seen this before and were very helpful. Each clue took you to a different select part of the city where it was safe. Yes read the clue... It is like Amazing Race.
Make sure you take sunscreen and hydrate, as it was very warm that day. We made it back to our ship in plenty of time. I would definitely recommend this adventure...

We recently completed the amazing race while on a stop on our Norwegian Escape cruise. We had booked the race a few months prior to our cruise, after looking for something a little different than the normal shore excursions offered by the cruise lines. This excursion did not disappoint. We had a great time, the starting area was easy to locate and a short (10 min) walk from cruise terminal in town. We loved the fact that we got away from the busy shops etc. which are close to the cruise terminals. This race showed us some of the different areas of Cozumel, we had a great experience with the staff and the locals who were often helpful and cheering us on. We would do the amazing race again if we were to visit Cozumel!

How far away is the start of the race from Puerto Maya Terminal? Are we given instructions once we book on where to meet and how to get there?

Hi,
So sorry for the delayed reply. We have been having communication issues with TA. At any rate, if you have not already taken your trip, yes, you will receive full instructions upon signing up. As for the starting line, it is about a 10 minute taxi ride from Puerto Maya. Taxis are very easy to get, and charge a flat fee, so you won't have to haggle. All the drivers know how to get to the location. If this reply is not too late, please let us know if you have any other questions. We thank you very much, and we hope to see you soon.
Best,
Team Amazing Cozumel Race

Were you given a map on how to get from the port to the starting point? We are arriving in December at the Puerto Maya Terminal, Princess Cruise.
Written 18 September 2021
Hi Wanderer: Upon sign-up, you'll be provided with instructions on how to meet-up at our rendezvous point. Included will be the location to give to your taxi driver; all taxi drivers on the island know of us and will whisk you directly there :) From Puerta Maya, it's about a 15 minute taxi ride along the ocean to our starting line. See you there! -Scott

We are thinking of doing the Amazing Cozumel Race . However , the start time in the booking is 11:30 . In all the reviews they talk about a great lunch after . Would our start time also include a lunch . Will it be before or after ?
Written 17 December 2019
Hi Mithali...You'll be arriving at our final destination around 2:30; lunch is not included but the prices are reasonable and the food is good. Anticipate approx $15 per person for a full entree. We provide chips and salsa, and 2 free drinks (beer, water, or soft drinks) with the tour. We'll hope to see you at the starting line...thank you Mithali! :)

I read on an older review that the snorkeling was optional. Is that still true? Not sure if any in our group would want to snorkel for a clue. Thanks
Written 17 November 2019
Hi Nancy; The snorkeling is indeed optional, and at times due to weather conditions we'll stay onshore completely. No worries, we'll keep you safe and dry if you wish :)

I saw where someone said they finished the race in 30 or 40 minutes, however, the website says it takes 3 to 4 hours. Can anyone let me know how long it really takes? Thanks.
Written 9 November 2019
It definitely takes longer than 30-40 minutes. I can't remember exactly the amount of time, but probably around 2 hours for the race and then a nice lunch with awards ceremony at the end. It's really fun and a great way to see lots of different parts of Cozumel. We have been there several different times on cruises but we had never gone to the parts included in the race before.

Will I have enough time for this excursion if I'm coming from a cruise ship (Carnival Vista)?
Written 29 August 2019
Hi Betty,
Not a problem; we determine all starting times to allow for timely and safe return to your ship, guaranteed. Since 2007, nobody has missed their ship, ever :)
Thank you for your interest and we hope to see you at the starting line!

Considering this activity as a cruise excursion in Feb. My son and daughter will be 8 and 5.5, respectively. Can anyone recommend one way or another whether this activity is appropriate for our family of 4? The kids are familiar with Amazing Race Canada and I figure this will be a fun and unique thing to do - different from the usual. My concern is with potential heat and just being out and moving too much - whether anyone has taken a 5 year old, or similar, and that went for you. Thanks.
Written 22 July 2019
As far as participating, for sure you will be ok (must be an active 5 year old, if you are not an active youngster, then I would not recommend this as there is a good bit of jogging. Probably about 4-5 kms spread out through the 2 lags of the competition). As far as winning, speed and smarts are a factor. But this is only as competitive as you make it. We came second, but had a blast, truly a great experience. So, if you are active and in shape, I think you will be fine. And you will love the snorkel break in the middle (they have refreshments on the boat).

We will be on the NCL Getaway on August 24. Can you tell me where the meeting place is in comparison to where the Getaway will dock? Can we walk or would we need to take a taxi? Thanks!
Written 31 July 2018
Hi Darcy, Your ship will arrive at Punta Langosta, which is a 15 minute walk into town to our rendezvous location at the Central Market Food Court. If you prefer, it's a 5 minute taxi ride for 8 dollars (up to 4 people). It's a casual walk, our rendezvous time on August 24th is 11:15. Leave your ship by 10:30 and take your time. Plus you'll be limbered-up for the starting line :) -Scott

Can you tell me more about the snorkeling with this event? My kids want to do the race but also want to snorkel. Not sure we can do two excursions so I'm curious what's included in this one.
Written 15 April 2018
Hi Shanna, The snorkel element in The Amazing Race is fairly brief; you'll be supplied all the equipment, taken on a glass-bottom boat to a secret treasure / clue about 30 feet below in the clear water. However, the entire event only takes about 30 minutes, 15 minutes of snorkeling. Unsure if that's enough if you're looking for a snorkel-specific tour. Otherwise...we'd love to see you at the starting line :) -Scott
Written 23 April 2018
Hi Mike...The entire tour takes approx 4 hours from our greeting you until the final award ceremony. We'll cite a rendezvous time upon your signing up (many dates have different starting times); add 4 hours on to that time and that's when you'll be done. Hope to see you at the starting line! -Scott
