We perform checks on reviews.
Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Just straight when exiting the PDC ferry lies this central square with the Benito Juarez park in the middle.
It's a classical square Mexican plaza, with trees and benches, a Church and shops, bars and restaurants surrounding it. Much less tourists than on our previous visit.

This area is good for shopping, but be sure to get away from Av. Rafael E. Melgar, the main drag along the shore. Much better prices and options are available along 5a Avenida Sur, especially south of Calle 2 Norte. A peanut butter coffee at Coz Coffee is well worth stopping for.

I always make sure to walk through the shops while in Cozumel, Viva Mexico is my favorite; we always find cheap souvenirs there. There are also great shops for jewelry, clothing, knick knacks, tequila and vanilla. One tip, NEVER use the ATM there, it charged us $35 to get $300 out!

Shop, shop, and keep shopping! Great place with an extensive amount of local shops to choose from. Tip to save...don't purchase items immediately upon arrival, from the first ones, you'll find better prices at the shops located further in.

Stopped here while on Honeymoon Cruise in November 2014.

Plenty of shopping along the main walking strip although it's all catered to high end duty free shoppers.

Nice to take in the sights and soak the local culture too.

We should have spent the day drinking Margaritas in Jimmy Buffets!!!

We loved walking through here and the central area had water sprinklers going - which was great to cool off! The Cozumel sign is wonderful for pictures. It was very clean and we bought lots of fun things (shoes, shirts, jewelry, cover ups, etc.). We are used to pushy vendors, but say no and keep walking if you aren't interested. Otherwise...make a deal. It's their livelihood, and we are happy to support locals artists and vendors.

This plaza is the first thing you see at the cruise port in Cozumel. It is a neat little place to explore and pick up some trinkets to bring home with you. I always bring back some Vanilla it is excellent and you MUST try and buy some Rum Cake!!

We love to visit the central square on Sunday night. There is usually live music and dancing. If you really want to immerse yourself in all that the island has to offer this is a must do. The locals are dressed in their Sunday best and the whole family is out enjoying the festive atmosphere in the square. Everyone is welcome. You can just sit and enjoy or dance the night away. While you visit the square be sure to check out the churro cart.

You can find anything here, you have to be able to say no and if you want it, you have to barter for the best price, if it's not what you want to pay, leave, if they chase you it's a good price if they don't it was too low. It's a fun place to shop or stop for a beer.

The Plaza is generally very clean with the main street along the shoreline crammed with stores ranging from typical tourist souvenir shops to high end jewelry stores, both local and chain companies. The side streets between the waterfront and the main plaza are mostly locally owned. The Plaza itself is very open and clean surrounded by larger buildings and small stores. Vendors with small kiosks and carts sell their wares on the streets circling the Plaza.

We found the sales people and owners generally respectful if we were not entering their particular shop. The side street shop owners, on the other hand, were very aggressive with one man running after us to come back and see his goods. Kind of scary for my kids but we laughed about it soon thereafter.
