The free walking tour offered by the tourism office is awesome! It's at 9:30 am lasting about an hour and a half and just goes around the main park and gives a great history of the city and the important buildings. It's worth doing to learn more about the city for cheap (just tip the tour guide however much you... More

The Merida tourist office (main plaza, pink building) provides a free walking tour every morning at 9.30AM. The tour should last 90 minutes though I left after 30 minutes because I wasn't getting much out of the tour. The guide spoke quickly and it was pretty difficult to understand what was being said. I also didn't think the information that... More

I did the free walking tour and the guide was speaking English but I couldn't understand him at all. Many people left the tour within the first 10 minutes.

Seems there is always an English speaking staff member on duty. We tried the free walk but abandoned it because unfortunately the guide 's English was a bit weak and we could, only catch evertyv3rd word or so Your results may be entirely different Good luck

Went on the free tour. Tour lasts about 90 minutes and takes you to the sites around the plaza. Tour guide was friendly.

They were very helpful in getting me a map. They also arranged tours, if desired. It is off the main plaza.

The tourism office on Plaza Grande offers a free city tour each morning at 9:30. It was informative and gave an excellent overview of the historic area.

Excellent staff who are really friendly and they run a free tour, paid for by the government, that takes you around the main square. It's really informative and our guide's English was very good. 100% worth your time. Leaves at 9.30am everyday. Arrive 5 mins early so you can sign in in the office.

I prefer the Merida City Tourism Offices over the State Tourism offices catercorner across the Man Square. They have always been helpful in both English and Spanish, Knowledgeable about the bus routes and what is going on in town. I go to them for advise almost daily when in town.

If you can fit this in your schedule it was good. The guide was very energetic and informative. It's not much walking - just around the square.
