We ordered a cab from our hotel in Riviera Maya, the cost for 1 cab for 4 people 325 pesos. We spent several hours walking checking out the shops and the beach. It was a worth while venture. Wear a hat, sunglasses, sun screen and good walking shoes.

This is what happens when you walk down 5th avenue: You: walking, chatting with you friends/husband/wife Vendor: Jumps in front of you. "Hola Lady, Come into my store! I sell the best silver jewelry around. Do you want silver jewelry? See what I have!!" or Vendor: Jumps in front of you. "Hey Lady!! Do you want a massage? A fish... More

This is not my first time here, but it may be my last. I have never seen the shop owners so aggressive and deceitful before. I understand that everyone needs to make a living, but doing so by exploiting others is a horrible practice. Having been here many times before I am accustomed to bartering for goods and when the... We stayed right on 5th Ave. at the Blue Parrot - our room looked out on to the street, across from the Tequila Barrel. We were fine with hearing the late nightlife - made us feel a part of everything. I bought a nice sterling silver bracelet on the street close to our hotel.

Would highly recommend going to 5th avenue. It was a truly unique experience with a mixture of local vendors and modern stores.

This is an amazing location to get the great vibes of Playa Del Carmen. The beach views are great and the shopping is even better! If you have the time to get away from your resort make sure you stop by.

Lots of people trying to sell you. Lie to you about knowing you from your resort. They recognize the resorts wristbands. Was continually offered drugs. Some very cool places to eat and drink, just know you're going to get hassled.

We have been here a few times and have always loved it. Each time we go though they make it more and more commercialized! We used to love shopping with the locals and bartering but now they seem onery, and really aggressive. Probably because they are losing business because of the new stores. We didn't even go to far down... More

5th avenue is loaded with great restaurants and repetitive shops but beware if you take young adults or kids, they are pushing a lot of drugs. I was approached many times and many times I mean daily several times walking the bar district or 5th avenue if I wanted weed, Ice, and cocaine so be aware.

We have visited playa del carmen 3 times in the past 3 years. Walking down 5th avenue is nice at night although this year we had an experience leading to us probably never returning to shop on 5th. We bought sunglasses at sunglass hut as a gift. Got back to the resort to give the gift to my husband. They... More
