A GIROe Tuscany week of fun and achievement
Sep 2021
Just finished a wonderful GIROe guided cycling week in spectacular Tuscany scenery and mostly ideal temperatures, on Lapierre Lexius road e- bikes. The 3 levels of power enable a ‘mixed ability’ group to ride together. The fittest or most experienced can use little or no power, while knowing it’s there behind them; the older and/or less experienced could be in full power all week - but you won’t need this and the exhilaration of seeing progress adds to the experience.

Be prepared for hills ( one or 2 are definitely ‘challenging’ -full power for most of us!) but what goes up must come down. Long, exhilarating descents. Remarkably little traffic, strategically placed coffee and excellent lunch stops; wine tasting, pizza and some interesting history along the way and time to relax at the end of the day. A very well balanced programme.

Tim personalises the well-organised service from start to finish and is a friend as well as knowledgeable host and expert guide. Roberto fitted the bikes to our individual needs to the millimetre and his advice, encouragement and great skill got me through the first day in (more or less) one piece. As a result of this, my confidence grew; and, though I had been a bit worried about the longest ride, by the end of that day, I didn’t want the 100km ride to end.

It’s hard to think of a negative. Lack of self belief on day 1? Trust Tim that it’ll be ok and use lots of power to get you into the swing; then you can ease off and challenge yourself as much as you want to. if I can do it, any reasonably fit ‘leisure cyclist’ can, while the super-fit can pace themselves against Tim and Roberto.

COVID paperwork and the tests are a necessary nuisance but not an obstacle and actually made me feel safe when travelling. Tim arranged for the pre-return-flight test, which was remarkably quick and easy. (Added bonus - it took us into interesting, ancient Cortona. Don’t miss it on your first or last night).

Overall, one of the best trips I’ve experienced and one which leaves you with a sense of achievement as well as pleasure.

Fun, friendship, fitness, food and wine cycling in stunning Tuscany with Inspired Italy. Just Brill!
Sep 2021 • Solo
This is my third week with Inspired Italy but first on a bike. As part of the GIROe tour we did 360km in the most stunning Tuscan countryside in beautiful weather, tasted great food and wine and stayed in five delightful hotels. This was my first cycle holiday and can’t be more positive about the equipment, route planning and guiding. Thankyou Tim and Roberto for being wonderful hosts.

GIROe: Grand Tour of Tuscany
Sep 2021
We have just spent eight days completing the GIROe e-bike tour of Tuscany.

The tour was led throughout by Tim, with Roberto accompanying us for the first few days. Inspired Italy’s organisation was excellent, from first enquiries, through to getting us antigen tested and safely on our way home at the end of the tour. Tim was the perfect host and knowledgeable guide and he put together a varied programme of riding, gastronomy and sampling of the regional wines!

We are reasonably keen, but ‘mature’ leisure cyclists and at first we were a little apprehensive about our abilities to complete the six-day, 365km cycling trip. The Lapierre Xelius e-bikes allowed us to find our own level, whilst giving us a real sense of achievement at journey’s end. Tim and Roberto gave us advice and encouragement so that we were able to pace ourselves and complete each of the daily rides with confidence. The bikes are well maintained and were set up to suit our sizing and individual needs on the first morning.

We experienced the wonderful and varied range of Tuscan scenery, in perfect temperatures, with only one rain shower, which we were able to observe during our lunch stop under the awning of our restaurant.

We would highly recommend this adventure to anyone who wishes to combine serious road cycling with an interesting and stimulating holiday in beautiful Tuscany.

Even with the Covid restrictions, travelling to and from Italy was fairly straightforward.
Buying the pre and post travel tests in the UK was fairly easy and Inspired Italy arranged a quick visit to a farmacia for our antigen tests for the return journey.

Cycling and Giro d'Italia Experience in Emilia Romagna
Oct 2020
I had almost given up on the ideal of having a cycling holiday in 2020 due to Covid, however I discovered Inspired Italy by chance and sent an enquiry via their website. I received a call back from Tim, the owner, and, despite there not being any holidays available so late in the season, he put together a package that would enable me to spend a week cycling with him in Cesenatico, on the very roads that local legend Marco Pantani trained on. The package included accommodation, food, bike rental and also the opportunity to experience the end of Stage 12 of the Giro d'Italia in a hospitality tent at the finish line. I'm very grateful to Tim, who was incredibly helpful in the planning of the trip and went out of his way to ensure that everything went smoothly.

I was based in the Lungomare Hotel, which specialises in bike holidays. I rented a wonderful Pinarello bike from the hotel, and went on guided rides every day. There are three or four group rides available each day, and you can choose from easy-paced to fast according to your ability, with distances ranging from 50 to 85km. The hotel itself was good, with friendly, helpful staff and amazing food!

Although the weather was unseasonably cold the week I was there, the sun shone most of the time as we rode through beautiful scenery and wonderful hilltop villages (stopping for coffee, of course). We were joined in our group by cyclists from throughout Europe and soon got to know each other. Having never ridden with a group, I didn't know what to expect, and, although I am a keen cyclist, I was concerned that I wouldn't be fit enough to keep up. However, I needn't have worried, as the pace was perfect and I really enjoyed the experience of group riding.

I thoroughly enjoyed my week in Cesenatico and can highly recommend Experience Italy to anyone looking for a cycling holiday, and I'm hoping to book another holiday with them next year.

Excellent week

A great week travelling the Tuscan countryside!
The ebikes were a joy - we had a wide range of cycling backgrounds in the group but everyone was able to travel together with ease, working as little or as much as they wanted.
Our self-guided tour was very easy and reliable to follow and the sat nav set up was all set up in advance to cover each stage of every day.

The days allowed for plenty of scenic stops en route and afternoon recreation on arrival - with exceptional views throughout.

The upfront information was excellent as well as the ongoing support day to day - with help making local bookings and detailed advice.

We stayed & dined in some lovely places - a fine week, highly recommended!

Amazing!
Sep 2020
I've just had the pleasure of being a guest of Inspired Italy and doing their six day Tour of Tuscany riding Lapierre Exelius e road bikes.

Where do I begin? The trip was pretty much perfect. Firstly the weather was beautiful; we had mostly clear blue skies, sunshine, temps between 27 and 32 degrees C and no headwinds wind. (If you are a cyclist you will know how fantastic that is) The Tuscan countryside is stunning beautiful, the people are lovely and, of course the food and drink is first class.

I am a fairly experienced cyclist but I've never ridden an e bike so had no idea what to expect but the Lapierre was very easy and straight forward to use. Although my inner roadie wanted to do the climbs without assistance, it was just easier to use the motor to push you up the many Tuscan hills. It's there, you might was well use it and enjoy the views and the ride rather than push yourself to exhaustion. The routes we rode varied from a relatively easy 45 km/700 metres vertical to a challenging 100km/ 1300 metres vertical. Knowing the motor was there to help out if needed was very reassuring.

Tim and his team were great. Tim actually rode with us, pointing out lots of very interesting fact and figures along the way. All our luggage was transported between hotels so all we had to carry were the things we needed for the ride.

Our accommodation ranged from aristocratic hunting lodges to old castles and boutique hotels; it was a trip of a lifetime.

If you are a cyclist I would thoroughly recommend coming to Tuscany. You will be riding in the country of the Italian greats such as Fausto Coppi, Mario Cippilolini and Marco Pantani to name but few.

All in all a wonderful experience and I would have no hesitation recommending Inspired Italy to anyone thinking of a cycling holiday in Italy.

Tour of Tuscany
Sep 2020 • Friends
Just finished an amazing 6 day ride through Tuscany with Inspired Italy using Lapierre eXelius electric bikes. It was absolutely fantastic! The added assistance when needed from the ebikes just made it so much more enjoyable. You could still have a workout if you wanted or if you needed help up some of Tuscany’s many hills the motor was their to help you. I could not have done all 6 days and enjoyed it as much as I did without the ebike.

The scenery, towns and villages are simply amazing. Their is always something to look at. The hotels used were very nice and all the staff were friendly.

You definitely don’t go hungry either! Plenty of stops along the way for food and drinks. You haven’t had pizza or pasta until you’ve had it in Italy - it’s just so much nicer!

I would definitely go for a guided option. Tim’s knowledge of the area is sublime and he always has a random fact or story about wherever you are. He just makes the whole trip even better

Can’t wait to come back again.

2nd ski safari, this time the venture which is the most adventurous for better skiers. Matteo was a great leader. Good fun and very knowledgeable of the area. Lots of skiing at a good pace. Refugios from fairly basic to top quality, all with good food. Will go again.
