About
Fattoria Valle Magica is a unique day out for anyone wanting to escape the stress of the city to gain freedom, space and fresh air. We rear rare breed donkeys, sheep, pigs, goats, chickens (and more), while focusing on ethical, ecological and sustainable farming methods. As a visitor, you can take our informative tour of the farm, meet and learn about each breed we keep and the products we make. If you want to enjoy a fuller experience, you can combine the tour with lunch, comprising of a tagliere of our salumi, sotto oli plus cheese and more. This is followed by a mixed grill of farm reared meats for you to cook on your allocated BBQ (charcoal & tools provided). Your lunch including 1/4 liter of local wine can be enjoyed at your private, open-air but shaded table. Visit our website to book your visit or one of our experiences including donkey trekking, aperitivo and more. In addition we have farm produced products you can buy at the farm to take home with you.

What a wonderful place! Our family had a lovely meal here on the evening that the restaurant opened. The food is fresh and delicious, the owner very welcoming and everything is sourced locally. Meals are prepared in a unique and tasteful way. Awesome! I recommend Fattoria Valle Magica very highly!!!

Visitng the farm was a special event- due to the day of practicing pet therapy with donkeys! It was such a pleasure for the kids, and even older ones. Ralph guided us and explained all about farm with so many animals, mostly coming from the region . some really old breds. They try to live and work susteinable which can be senced even with quality food - salamies, cheese, pickled vegetables, even figs.. It is worth a visit for a different view of agricultural work and try excellent food and wine.

A magical experience made of nature, animals to protect and delicious food. A precious story for both adults and children, to learn to love and respect the welfare of these beautiful animals. Great food, super welcome!

I'm sorry, I thought it was a nice experience, it certainly is for children who see the beauty of things but for adults I would say no, the road to get there is very bad and you risk ruining the car, poor organization, food... sore point is the famous cutting board is nothing else what a plastic plate with a slice of cheese inside and three types of cured meats (not even ham) which are not good! In short, not the best roasts, you have to cook them yourself and queue because there aren't enough channels for the people they let in, the only good thing is burgers made by them cooked on sight but I don't know if they were people from outside the farm ! For the rest it's not worth it.
The pumpkin patch is nothing more than a dried up piece of land where they have placed pumpkins that you take and pay for! 20 kebabs, a cutting board (plastic saucer) and two glasses of beer €38!!!!!!
I don't think I saw much entertainment apart from a speaker placed in the middle of nowhere with blaring music (Queen type music which would also be excellent but not in that context) which was out of place with the environment full of children and theoretically immersed in the nature!

Sunday with the family, the children had fun. Cute pumpkin carving workshop, cheerful environment definitely. Arrosticini expensive (1 euro each), pleasant music, soap bubble show particularly exciting, but I can not but dwell on the way in which the animals are kept. The donkey/pony ride had tired animals pulled by the hood to make them walk. The rabbit cage was without water, and in a mini box there were five puppies of dogs that competed for a 'single bowl of croquettes coming to bite each other with a lot of crying and barking. In clear thinness with visible ribs.
Finally I prefer not to comment on the only two chemical baths in the whole farm.
It would have great potential, but on certain things unfortunately you can not override

Actually visited in Aug 2018. Fascinating farm, preserving old breeds, using natural pest-control techniques. I’m no farmer, but it all looked good to me. And the food was excellent. A good day out.

I had been to Fattoria Valle Magia for lunch with a group and I thought it would make a nice day out for the grandchildren when they visited during the summer holiday. How right I was! They had a great time. ( and to be honest so did we.) I booked the Beasts and Burden experience which included a tour of the farm and lunch. We arrived sometime before 10 in the morning and didn't leave until 3 or 4 in the afternoon, and probably could have stayed later.
The experience started with us being greeted enthusiastically by the entire family. The dogs and cats seemed a bit more wary. Some of the children seemed determined to take over as our guides but Ninke quickly ushered us into the vegetable garden. This wasn't just a guided tour. Quickly we were all involved in picking herbs and vegetable that would form the key ingredients of our lunch. I was amazed how rapidly our grandchildren became enthusiastically involved in gathering our lunch. Usually trying to involve them in anything to do with food preparation only results in a muffled chorus of "I'm busy" or "In a minute" from behind a nearby screen. I was fascinated by the way in which Ralph and Ninke manage to grow so much produce using nothing artificial and little machinery. We were soon involved in one of their pest control methods when we released the geese into the vegetable patch to reduce the number of grasshoppers. Our next stop was the rare breeds of chickens, where our kids had the opportunity to feed the chickens, gather multi coloured eggs and even to handle some newly hatched chicks, again with a level of enjoyment that I have rarely seen them display except when killing aliens with ray guns. Next we went to feed the geese. OK this time it was difficult to tell who was most enthusiastic, the feeders or the fed. We then set of to walk through and feed the sheep, under the watchful eye of several of the Pastorale Abrruzese sheep dogs kept to protect the animals. By this time Ninke had gone to the kitchen and Ralph had taken over as guide. I was very impressed with the wealth of local stories and folklore Ralph and Ninke had amassed in the time there have been here. Whilst the kids ran about trying to stroke sheep, Ralph maintained a conversation full of interesting facts about the animals breeds and their husbandry. Next we arrived at the goats. Sadly there were no baby goats around at this time but probably the highlight of the day for all of us was watching our 10year old successfully milking a goat. Another useful life skill mastered. Next we went to the pigs. Again, like most of the animals here these were more slowly developing traditional breeds, unlike those raised intensively to add as much bulk as possible in as short a time as possible. Whilst I find it difficult to read the mood of pigs, these seemed exceptionally happy, especially the boar who was sleeping when we were there but Ralph assured us that when the mood took him he was quite capable of breaking down the heavily reinforced fence to get to the females in the next pen, who were now squabbling over the food that Jessica had just given them. Following the pigs, we went into the large chicken pen, where the kids were again involved in what quickly became a competition to find the most eggs or the eggs hidden in the most creative way possible by the hens. I was going to say our last visit was to the rabbits but they were in the process of being re -housed which was probably just as well because I think we would still have been there if our kids had had the opportunity to cuddle small furry animals. Actually the final part of the tour was a small pen of piglets which were equally entertaining. The kids had yet another opportunity to feed the animals and enjoyed immensely watching the piglets clambering over one another in their desperation to ensure they received their fair share.
After that we returned to the gazebo to eat lunch. Unfortunately I have not had the opportunity to write this until some months later so I am not sure I can remember all the things we were offered as part of the antipasta, but I know it was plentiful and wide ranging. I do remember the carbonara and the plentiful amounts of wine and in particular the homemade digestivo. I also noted that our kids, who can often be quite picky about food, ate just about everything put in front of them, enthusiastically. (Did I mention that our kids were enthusiastic about nearly everything throughout the day ?) and I certainly remember eating too much.
It is worth mentioning that as well as being an excellent cook Ninke, bottles a whole of vegetables and sauces and prepares a wide range of salumi and cold meats which are well worth trying. We came away with several examples of her produce which we consumed enthusiastically during the following days.
If like us, you worry that your children or grandchildren don't get enough fresh air, if you are interested in learning more about keeping traditional breeds of animals in as ecological manner as possible or whether you simply want a . a new experience the whole family will enjoy I would thoroughly recommend a day at Fattoria Valle Magica.

We have now visited the farm three times and we’ going again this week. We have been as adults and also taken our grandchildren who absolutely adore it!
The setting is beautiful, in a secluded valley overlooking the Tirino Valley. The family who own it are lovely, very welcoming and have four young children. The aim is to rear local, often endangered species through ethical, sustainable farming. The farm has sheep ( the ancient transhumance breed), goats, pigs, rabbits, ducks, geese, chickens and turkeys, and also Abruzzese sheep dogs, and (of course) cats! Visitors are able to feed, milk, collect eggs, and pick their own vegetables. It’s possible to book meals with the family, heavily recommended. We love the place and I know we will be regular visitors. There are a wide variety of experiences available on the website, something for almost everyone, though disabled access would be difficult.

We have visited for a couple of events. This hard working couple and their four small children are living life as it was in the stories of an old time Abruzzi farmer. They are raising Pigs ducks chickens sheep goats and an amazing assortment of other animals, and growing fresh vegs herbs and olives.
They are committed to to organic and sustainable farming techniques. They love to host children's activities and love to give children a petting experience with the animals.
They have working Abruzzo sheep dogs and a lovely batch of kittens when I was there.Everyone works there even the cats!
I thoroughly enjoyed our guided tour of their farm.it is a stunning piece of land up a dirt road on the way up the mountains. I really enjoyed seeing the old farmhouse ruin down the back and oh what a view from there! Nimke showed us various native herbs on the way back then crouched down and milked a goat! She was so quick. The animals are trained with various calls to get them in and out of paddocks.
Nimke loves to talk to the old nonnas and discover their foodie secrets. She does delicious zucchini eggplant and capsicum preserves and they supervise closely the production of their own meat products. You can buy your own Abruzzi pig and have it butchered. My friends who in
introduced us ordered a turkey and invited us over. delicious !
