The heart of the city beats right here. Manicured trees and elegant iron benches sit beneath the plaza of the Parroquia grand church. Go to see people, dogs, kids, worshippers, peddlers, beggars and more. There are banks and stores all around and even a Starbucks on the corner. Thus where the day begins.

Grab a bench and enjoy a picnic in the park. Or shop the many boutiques on the outskirts or grab a bite to eat in one of the bistros and watch the colorful people. There's always something going on. Every time I walk through, I see something different. Yesterday we saw a full wedding processional with large dolls and family... More

If you love people watching this is the place for you. The most interesting times are on the week-ends. Especially Saturday nights. The Jardin and Parroquia are the heart of SMA. The Saturday weddings are a sight. Many if not all festivities, processions, parades, and many free musical and dance events.

Day after day we found ourselves drawn the the El Jardin - It is the the hearbeat of the city. Many locals describe it as the "living room" of San Miguel. On any given day, we found something wonderful to experience. We enjoyed beautiful wedding marches on the square, different art and music each day. The historic churches, restaurants and... More

When we visited the central square, there was a wedding reception being held with giant bride and groom puppets on stilts, while the real bride and groom and wedding party were dancing in the street while imbibing in tequila shots! It was a blast. We settled in a patio restaurant off to the side to people watch. A must place... More

It's a wonderful place to hang out and watch people. The most beautiful cathedral is right across the street. Several restaurants are also located around the jardin . In the evening there is something always going on-either festival activities or roaming musicians.

It's a very charming city. We had a great time. The Jardin is beautiful with a lot of history. Highly recommend getting a walking tour of the area to get to know more about the history of the town.

I love little towns with a central square, and this is one of those that is very close to perfect. There is always something going on- mariachi bands, dancers, weddings, shoe shiners, people trying to sell you stuff you don't want, close proximity to good restaurants and food stalls. My fave- the man selling gardenias for 20 pesos; that make... More
