El Jardin seems to be the place where everyone goes at some stage or another. You can sit on the benches and look at people going in and out of the church or you can just watch them stroll by as you relax. A few vendors selling their wares while while you debate with yourself about whether you should spend... More

While the green taxis seemed controlled at the bus station, they definitely are not here. I was charged 500 pesos for a 50 peso ride by a man and his wife about 8:00 pm on Feb. 19th. I have lost all sympathy for the poorer classes of San Miquel.

The Jardin is also known as the Zocalo or main square in the center of town and is a meeting point for locals and tourists alike. It is where people come to see and be seen as well as hang out in the local cafes and shops. Musicians roam the square as well as revolving fairs, such as the recent... More

This is a great place just to hang out and watch the people go by. On weekend evenings you will see mariachi bands, wedding parties, and people of all kinds. You can choose to enjoy El Jardin from one of the many park benches or one of the outdoor cafes. If you are lucky there may be fireworks or a... More

A charming town square with benches under groomed shade trees. A church on one side, a tourist office on the other. Shops & restaurants around. There's usually something going on to watch and this square is the reference point for the central district. You'll pass through the square on your way to pretty much anywhere else. As usual (although not... More

This is a beautiful, lively, colorful square with lots going on all hours of the day and into the night. Plenty of music, families playing, food to buy from kiosks or the surrounding restaurants. It has a lot going on and is great fun.

Every one and I mean every one will visit this interesting open air people watching location. And for good reason. It's free and never disappoints. Grab a coffee street side, a shoeshine or a shady park bench, it is a pleasure to be there.

Beautiful tree-filled square with benches surrounded by shops, restaurants, and a big church. One tip when going to San Miguel de Allende. Wear gym shoes. I brought flats, thinking that would be sufficient for walking on cobblestone streets. It was still difficult. Every woman I saw was wearing the right shoes but me.

Somehow you find yourself here every day, if you have a room close by. They are musicians every night and food vendors all day and evening. The trees are pruned with a circle in the top to keep birds from nesting in them, and thus soiling all the benches.

Trees with top hats, families enjoying, vendors selling balloons, festive, parade-like. The trees are so amazingly carved to resemble top hats. Restaurants and boutiques surround the area, even a Starbucks. Only one in town. Donkey for photo shot. Vendors selling straw hats
